Oh boy! Did I enjoy? I had a whale of a time:thumbs up

Watched "Tintin-3D" last evening.

If you have read a few books of Tintin or are a fan of Herge's comic character this movie will not disappoint at all. It's 1 hour, 47 minutes of roll-coaster ride of action, comedy, adventure all rolled into one. You may at somepoint feel that a lot of stuff is being crammed into the movie but, there is not a single minute of boredom through out the movie

I was super excited and pleasantly surprised to see that each and every character has been etched out with such great detail that I felt like giving the movie maker a standing ovation after the movie got completed. It's indeed a true acheivement for Steven Spielberg

Tintin was the only character that I felt was not 100%. Probably he was 90% accurate, there was something missing in his character that i am unable to place my finger on

Snowy's was the most amazing and perfectly etched out role. Felt almost like he jumped out of the comic book

Capt Haddock was brillaint and provided the comic relief that is he's known for. Except that he was shown quite dumb in the first half which he isnt actually. But, overall brilliant potrayal

Thomson and Thomson Bros were laugh a riot. Excellent potrayal of the bumbling detectives

I missed Calculus though

This new technology is mind-numbing and felt like watching real characters with some of the chase sequences ( especially the one in morocco with Tinin on a motorbike was outstanding) picturized amazingly well.

What makes the movie even worth is the 3D factor. however, an interesting point to note that 3-D effects have been used subtly and not like other movie makers how shove it in your face.

Overall, its a celebration of a new technology, amazing movie making skills and conversion of one of the most popular comic character to large screen and cant wait for every comic to be turned into a similar pleasurable movie watching experience.

4.5/5

Watched Tintin in 3D over the weekend and greatly enjoyed it! :)

The characters are all well etched out, 3D effects are good, the story keeps you engaged and the comic element is too good. :thumbs up

Of all characters, I loved Snowy the most!!

Watched Tintin yesterday and absolutely loved it. The story and visuals reminded me a lot of earlier Spielberg movies like "Raiders of the Lost Arc" and "Temple of Doom". Overall, the movie was awesome and completely worth the time and money. This was probably the first movie to employ motion capture where the characters don't look creepy.

Is the Bigflix movie rental shutting down? I didn't see any renewal option in last couple of days and the call center guy was also saying that they are closing. Any other option in Pune?

I discontinued by BF membership around 3 montsh ago, but I doubt if BF is shutting down. I think they are just closing their stores & will only now deliver - i.e. you can't walk into a store anymore for renting or renewal. You have to do everything through the phone or net.

One of the most gruesome horror movie I have ever watched is Martyrs. If you think 'Hostel' scared you, this is twice the amount. But the story line is superb, watch till the end, the ending is something.

I went though the following while on sabbatical:

Superman: Doomsday
About him dying at the hands of doomsday, and then resurrecting to fight his clone made by lex

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies
both are outlawed, since they dont all under lex's president ship.

Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths (repeat!)
usual multiverse travel

Superman/Batman: Apocalypse
with added goodness of wonder woman, and the induction of supergirl, all against apocalypse/darkseid

Batman: Year One
oh, this is storyline done noir style!

Still to go : Superman: Brainiac Attacks

These are all full length (60-80 minute) features from warner animation.
and if you are ANY kind of comic nut(unlike me, who's a freakish buff!), youll enjoy these.
give "year one a pass, though, if batman, according to you , is not a "superhero"!!
:D

+1. I was scared witless ( in a disgusting way) after simply viewing this movie for a few minutes and havent gotten around to complete it. It's not from a horror genre but, is from a macabre genre ( not that such genre exists)

Saw Tintin last night. A complete fan of Tintin comics, it was more nostalgia for me to go and see the movie with my kids. I was more excited to see the film as if i had switched roles with them for the night. They were quite amused i think.

I remember buying my first Tintin from a local vendor near my house (Ding Dong Book store) Sadly he has fallen victim to commercialisation and had moved long long ago. Guess he retired. It was Tintin and the "Crab with the golden claws." It was a hrd bound eidtion which are collector's items today and costed a mere Rs.28/- and the soft cover was for Rs.7/- a kings ransom form me, who was a student in school not more than 12 years of age. Asterix comics were sold at a premium for 36/- and the soft cover for Rs. 9/- Slowly and surely i built my collection having each and every title. I wonder where they are now....probably somewhere in the house shut in some trunk. Must find them.

I found the characters very apt and completely in sync with the comics and cartoon series of Tintin. The detail to small items is amazing. Even in the comics i found that the details are phenomenal. Especially when it comes to architecture and vehicles. Yesterday, in the movie i was impressed at the detailed depiction of the Red Jeep which Tintin and the gang chase in the streets of North Africa. The Jeep was amazingly detailed to the last bit. Things like these are what make a movie experience so memorable. As they say, the God is in the details.

I enjoyed Tintin and trust and hope that the adventure continues in "Red Rackham's Treasure" which was the second in the series. Thats where Prof Calculus will come in, bringing his shark looking submarine for the dive to the sunken Unicorn. God, i cant wait for part two!!

A must see, even if you are not a Tintin fan.

The amount of blood , violence and torture just makes its so disgusting. Being the kind human that we are, its highly unwatchable.

Where people might find The Passion of the Christ (without cuts) unwatchable, Martyrs is on another plateau.

Already out isn't it?
2006.
Or do I have a spoof on my disk?

Year one,yeah, it's so so.
Thats what I meant.
It's less action oriented showing off his arsenal, more of a "character buildup".
:)
