Re: The Trichologist, Hair & Scalp Thread

I am not sure if this is the right place to post this query. Since this topic deals with hair, let me ask this. Is there is a hair dye that is consiered kind of safe without any side effects like rashes etc., My hair has started graying and my side burns is all white. My Moustache is not far behind in getting greys. I am looking to dye my hair and moustache as well.

Please advice.

Anyway, my balding patch is in the front as of now. If I had to go for some restoration (weaving, transplant whatever - don't know much about this) - what's the best? What are advantages, disadvantages? What would it cost? And how many sessions would it require?
Forget all the medicines and transplants man. I have been there with a half moon and about 9 years back, i decided to go bald. And the ladies have been going ga ga over them. Plus some of the guys too. Would suggest growing a mustache to complement it.

check it out !

Nowadays Salt-n-Pepper style is in vogue especially after Tamil Star Ajit's look in his movies- Aarambhom, etc. If you have not yet started applying hair dyes, my suggestion is to stay away and carry the style with class, especially if you have crossed 35-ish:-). I'm a victim of some ill effects of dyes:-(.

Sorry to hear about your case. I am all of 31 and that's the reason for asking about dying. I am no Ajith, but then since you have told there could be side effects I will give it some thought.

What are the ill-effects?

I had a lot of grey hair in my earlier 20s - may be 30% or more. I used a dye called "Kali Mehendi Herbal Powder" for a year. Somehow magically, after a year, I had no grey hair - I have no idea whether it was because of the Kali Mehendi or something else. Another thing is that I got a lot of dandruff around the same time - again I don't know what was the cause. It's 20 years hence & I still don't have grey hair on my head. My chin stubble is Salt-n-Pepper though.

I started using dyes to cover up for my limited grey strands in early 30's. Pretty soon I realized rest of the hairs were also turning grey much quickly. Hence my over reliance on dyes started much early. Dermotologist said it was due to some chemicals present in that particular type of dyes. Not sure which ones. Nowadays (now in my mid-40's) its off and on application once a month or so, depending on my mood. Sometime I prefer the salt-n-pepper style (more saltish by now , and sometime I prefer the black look (for remaining strands of whatever hair is left !)

Interesting and useful thread. What do bhpians think of as the best option:
1. Consult a skin care specialist / doctor.
2. Consult private skin care clinics (dr batra etc)
3. Ayurveda
4. Go bald in twice a year YIKES

Does curing of dandruff result in bringing volume and increased hair growth.

Re: OTC hair gels?

What would be a good hair styling gel for indian conditions?
Are there any water based hair gels available out here?

Please advise.

Bohemian Beards-beard Grooming Products And Care

Growing a beard has been a rite of passage like moment in my life. Also, being a sakhta launda from BTech Mechanical Engineering it adds a bit of colour to our otherwise grey lives (you know what I mean).

I have started to groom my beard and started to use some products. I would request the veterans as well as the hunks (like me) on this forum to share their valuable experiences and the products which they use with regards to this art/hobby. For starters, this is the stuff which I use:-

Did you get any advise? I am looking for some potential recommendation myself but it is confusing world out there. Heard Dr A (Fusehair) from someone but then another friend told me that all are same. Please let me know if you have any insights.

Yes. I went and got the forward half done, and this September it will be the back. The density will be lower where you get transplants, and it obviously looks like a transplant for at least 3-4 months. There's going to be some wounding for at least one month, and you have to take at least a week off because the face swells up.
I went to Dr kalia in Chandigarh. He's about a third of what Delhi and Noida doctors quoted. I got the surgery done, stayed at country inn and paid for diesel too in less than what it would cost me here.
From September to today, this is the change :

Re: The Trichologist, Hair & Scalp Thread

SO I have been using Minoxydyl for a decade along with finasteride tablets. Started using them when I was in engineering and suffering from an accelerated hair fall . Contacted a trichologist and followed her guidance.

I must confess it worked very well , barring the side effects of excessive dandruff and itching at times, which was bearable . ( It could have serious side effects for some people )

So after 10 years, Have been reading about Redensyl , which , some websites claim have greater efficiency without any side effects of minoxidil.

Is anyone using any products based on redensyl & attest to its high(/low) efficiency as reported online ?

I got a bottle of it and have to wait and see how it impacts !

Any experience with Indulekha hair oil in curbing hair loss or re-growing hair? Does it really work as advertised?

Some more details on this Kali Mehendi would be very helpful.
