I wear prescription glasses. Only when I wear contacts do I use sunglasses. But I hate contacts and have stopped using them.

I am looking for a pair of sunglasses with power (the same as my prescription spectacles). Any idea where to get them made in Bangalore?

Try Lawrence & Mayo. I think Ray-Ban lenses can be made to prescription. May cost a bomb though.

Thanks. Will check. I am willing to pay 5K and thereabouts for something that suits me really well. Brand is of no concern.

I once took a colleague of mine, who was new to Bangalore, to L & M on M.G.Road for buying sun glasses. They were running a Sun glass mela at that time. This friend was wearing prescription glasses, so he was basically looking for the type of add on that could be hung on to his glasses. I remember the sales guy telling us we could get prescription sun glasses made to order from Ray-Ban. That was in 2003. My friend did not opt for it as the cost was Rs 5k+ even then.

I picked a pair up from the US for about $100 (polarized) while the non-polarized was about $70 IIRC. I've seen a couple of boutique sunglasses stores in Delhi that stock them. Try them on, they're way sturdier than comparable RayBans.

The prescription sunglasses arent really RayBan make unless You order from their direct outlets (and not those who sell RayBan).

I got one done from Chennai and all they did was to tint the prescription lenses and have them framed. Though its effective to an extent, it isnt really an original RayBan. Dont spend too much on this.

That is why I suggested Lawrence & Mayo. They said it will have to be ordered from Bausch & Lomb directly.

I don't think neutral shade prescription lenses can be tinted. They can however grind a tinted lens to your power.

Just wondering if anyone is aware of Tag Heuer Sun Glasses outlet in India. I have a high mountain lens and I wanted to get some other shields like outdoor to go along with the frame.
