One record in this forum itself where someone picked up a Rusell's viper thinking it's a python. Read here

Re: Snakes!

Being a Snake Rescuer with an NGO authorised by Forest Department of Rajasthan, I've had my fair share of dealing with these slithery & fascinating creatures on a daily basis. Our team rescues a lot of different species of snakes and reptiles during monsoons.
Sharing pictures of a few of them :

A Saw-Scaled Viper(Echis Carinatus)-Venomous

Rat Snake, Another Angle

A Melanistic Royal Snake(Spalerosophis Atriceps)
, Most people mistake it for a cobra due to the colour. It is a non-venomous snake though.

These are only some of the snakes which we've rescued, will share more of them here soon.

Re: Snakes!

Nice pics. And how thick is that Sand Boa!

Can't imagine being constricted by that mass of muscles.

The Sand Boa in the picture is a full-Adult. And Yes, they use constriction to kill and feed on their prey which mostly consist of rats & small birds.

No, it is not a Russell's Viper. It is a non-venomous snake called Common Trinket Snake. A very beautiful snake that shines when sunlight reflects upon hence the name trinket. I've rescued it multiple times as it is commonly found in Rajasthan.
Here are some more pictures of the beautiful Snake.

They mostly try to flee when encountere but when there is no way out they make this 'S' kinda shape.

Re: Snakes!

Awesome video for snake lovers:

The channel itself is worthy of 'subscribe'. It has high resolution videos of snakes all over the world in the wild. It is not a documentary as such, but has sub-titles (no voiceover) for important bits.

This video has garnered 1.4 million views, probably because most snake documentaries do not capture hunting shots.

Check the first photo just above the pit, towards the centre and left side of its top edge. Its there.

In the second photo, its trying to go out near the left edge of the gate. See at the base of the wall.

Re: Snakes!

Would anyone know which Snake species ( or not ) is this ? Keep seeing them regularly in the place where I go for my morning run and appear harmless .
Are they venomous ? Most of the time they are crossing the road like in the picture or coiled like a spring on the side of the road.

Looks like a sand boa, but I have never seen them in black. What is the length of this snake?
