Using Eyemist- suggested by my Doctor father in law.

Lubricate eyes effectively and do not have issue anymore due to longer screen exposure.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Folks
Did my annual medical today. Cholesterol levels are awry. But it is better than last year though. My previous doctor said not to bother much, but the current doctor is asking me to go on a 3 month statin. I don’t want to go down that route. Asked him if anything else can help and he suggested Omega 3/6/9 capsules. Having read a bit about it now, there seems to be a lot of firms manufacturing this. Any recommendations for a reliable brand. I remember Seven seas cod liver capsules as a child, but would requested learned members to provide some guidance
Thanks

Here are my 2 cents

Omega-3, human body can’t make its own, which is why you need to include them in your diet or take them as supplements. Hence you MUST get them from outside, either food or supplements. It’s beneficial for heart/brain/body metabolism. Fish is the best source, if you consume non-veg and cod liver oil.

Omega-6 are also essential, so you need to obtain them from your diet. Human body can’t produce this either and need to be compensated from external source. It Provides body with energy. Large amount gets stored in fat tissue. Various nuts and Olive oil come to my mind for this.

Omega-9 fats are nonessential fats that the human body CAN produce. That’s why they aren’t generally taken as supplements. Good for reducing bad cholesterol and increasing good cholesterol. Again olive oil is the source here.

That’s the sole reason 3&6 are called as “essential” fats, because our bodies cannot produce it. Out of the three, omega-3 is the most important.

Hence in my opinion, the mantra would be exercise + diet + supplements, to get all parameters under control.

Good luck

You should invest in reputed brands like Solgar or GNC. There must be many more but I generally buy one or the other as per availability. Currently I am on Solgar. Please do keep in mind I am no doctor or specialist

Sharing my own experience here. My triglycerides were close to 300 three years ago. At that time, I was doing my best to cut on meat and oil. I was eating as less I could. Then I went on a zero carb lifestyle, and my cholesterol levels have been within limits all along(triglycerides are 90). In fact, I'm using a lot of fat and oil these days. You don't even have to go zero on carbs. Eliminate sugar, and reduce carbs, and you'll do wonders to your health!

I have mentioned this before...

1. There is an article on the wall at my eye surgery clinic, in the optician-business section too, quoting a couple of papers saying that "blue light filtering" lenses have no beneficial effect at all.

2. None the less, I didn't think they could do any harm, and enquired at another optician shop when ordering some specs. Luckily I had mentioned some hobbies, and the guy told me, "You mentioned that you a photographer, and do a lot of picture editing. The blue light blockers will make your screen look like the phone with night vision turned on." Not for me. I not only want to see actual colours, I need to!

It helped me a lot. I had severe eyestrain for a few weeks. So I tried the blue light glasses & within 3 days my strain had decreased 50%. A few more days later I also started eye drops for dry eyes. And within a few more days, my eyestrain went away totally. I still continue with the glasses & once a day eye drops.

There are recent advances in dry eye treatment. They use light to heat up and activate Meibomian glands that keeps the eyes oily and moist. If your condition is mild, one sitting of 15 minutes would be enough to go drops free even for a year. Find out in your city if any ophthalmologist is offering this treatment. Thank me later!

Hi!

Doesn't even come close
First link says that all blue or green should look black but certainly that cannot be right. It means if we use blue light filtering glasses, we wouldn't be able to see anything blue

But the second link says that even the best of such eyewear block 25-30% of blue light which looks more plausible. There is certainly a yellow tint in the glasses I use. But most importantly, using these glasses put less stress on my eyes which I can vouch for practically. Thanks for the links though,

Regards,
Saket

What brand or shop did you get it from?
Edit: No need to reply - your original comment said it was Titan!

This is the advice I got from Ophthalmologist. I recommend you talk to one as well.
  1. Don't use a laptop screen. Use a bigger monitor with Laptop and follow few practices like taking breaks etc. Focussing on a small objects causes eye strain
  2. Take care of posture

This is what doctors say about blue light glasses :

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Hey Guys, slightly off topic. I have a relative who has to undergo knee replacement surgery for both knees.

The total cost for the operation is around 6.5L and insurance covers 4L only.

Does anyone have any contacts in Max Hospitals Delhi - possibly help with a rate discount

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

I have been having internal haemorrids since last two months. It was triggered due to side effects of antibiotics and painkiller which I was prescribed for a wound which took too long to heal.
I visited a doctor at Apollo, Chennai who prescribed tablet Sitcom for two weeks. I didn't have bleeding then and now. Though the swelling reduced, it didn't heal completely. When I went back to the doctor, he straight away recommended surgery. I didn't want to go for surgery so went for ayurvedic. Have been taking these for about a month, with diet constraints, and it's been OK, but still not fully healed. Am I on the right track, or is there anything that can be done before going for surgery?

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

I’ve had a slight issue with my right knee. So the backstory is that a few years ago I fell down and injured the base of my kneecap ( the spot just under the kneecap) quite badly. Every 6-9 months the pain comes back for a few days and then it disappears again for a few months. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue ? Does anyone know why it could be coming back ? Any input would be helpful.
