Hope this helps.
Isn't Ketocinazole an anti fungal topical cream? I was prescribed this long back. Was very effective in getting rid of the infection!

Didn't know there is a tablet with the same name!

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Hi!

I took a full body test and some of the reports relating to cholesterol came a little off from the mark as under:

Total cholestrol- 239 (<200)
Triglycerides-180 (<150)
HDL- 43.20 (>40)
LDL 159.80 (<100)
VLDL-36 (<30)
NON HDL cholestrol-196 (<130)

(Optimal values in brackets)

I am thin/ 5' 8" and hypothyroid and my TSH levels were little high as well, so my eltroxin dosage has done up as well. I believe that high TSH also raises the Triglycerides. I don't take rich food much but due to a few marriages in family, I was a little lenient since last 2 months or so.

I don't want to start this cholesterol medication and would like to control it through diet and exercise. Though I am bit lazy to jog in the morning.

Can the doctors on the forum give some valuable advise as to how to go about it?
My dad had a history of cholesterol; well controlled through rosuvastatin, if it's relevant.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Hi, i had this tooth ache for the past 1-2 days which has resulted in swelling up of my cheek too on the side. So I would be really grateful if someone could get me in touch with a good dentist in Bihar (Near Katihar or Purnea) as i was temporarily on a visit here and the only dentist in our contacts is not available for the weekend and it is quite a urgent situation.

Thanks

Decrease in thyroid levels cause LDL levels to shoot up. In your case it is very high, also your triglycerides are high which are independentof thyroid and more suggestive of fatty liver. Considering your family history of Dyslipidemia, I would advise you to start a cholesterol tablet. You can also try life style modifications like reducing oil increasing exercise for 3 months and then get the profile done again with proper 12 hours fasting. If the lipids are still the same after 3 months than please start medication.

Mod Note: Please quote ONLY the relevant bits of a post. Quoting a full, long post inconveniences our mobile readers.

Thank you BlackRival for your valuable advice. I have reduced fat and oily food intake (not that I ate too much oily food before but still). Also I used to skip my breakfast many a times but have started taking skimmed milk and muesli breakfast cereals. Do you recommend against milk or may I continue? I’ve also induced walking in the evening before or after dinner because otherwise my nature of work is sedentary.

I’m planning to get another test done in 3 months as you’ve also suggested and will see if things improve. Thanks again.

Regards,
Saket.

A friend of mine is an MDS Prosthodontist here in Purnia. He will be available from Tuesday onwards. If that is okay with you, will pass on his details and get an appointment as per your convenience.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Docs on the forum- this may be a question asked and answered a few times. I tried to search, albeit with no real success, so please don’t mind me asking again:

At what point does an individual in their late 30s/early 40s with no family history of heart issues, need to take medication for high cholesterol?
Are they the kind of medicines that you start once and you need to keep taking them for the rest of your lives?
Is testing the cholesterol levels 6-months apart a reasonable duration or should that be done 3-months apart?

Walking is great, include some weightlifting as well like calesthenics at home. Milk should not be an issue. Basically avoid high trans fat and high carb items. (Red meat, maida, potato, rice)

Cholesterol medications are life long ones unless you make a drastic change in your lifestyle. Also Genetic factors influence a lot. Most of the people with diabetes, hypothyroidism suffer from Dyslipidemia. For people with normal lipid profile once a year testing is okay while those on medications 3 monthly tests are advised.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Aunt, age 53, has the beginning of Osteo-Arthritis of the knee as shown by a knee X-Ray. For almost the last year or so, because of the mild pain, she doesn't bend for stuff like taking things out of the bottom tray of the fridge, she doesn't bend for taking things out of the bottom rack of the cupboard etc. Is this a good precaution or is it better instead to bend is some good posture to do these things - i.e. will bending increase the progression of the osteo-arthritis. As of now, she has only been looked at by our General Physician & he hasn't given any medication for it & has only asked her to lose weight. She has also shown mildly elevated levels of Uric Acid for which she is on Allopurinol 100 twice a day.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

My parents aged 72 and 66, both diabetic and having hypertension, got their periodic blood test done today. Both were surprised by the results of the lipid profile.
Attached below screenshot of my father's report. The Triglycerides is out out of range in today's report, my mother's shows 264. The other parameters are in range.
The value for the same test done four months back was around 90 both of them. We are planning to do a retest before showing it to the family doctor. Can doctors here throw some light?

Edit: Missed to add - my father is very active for his age - daily walks, yoga, farming, and controlled diet with medicines. Mother does all the household chores, controlled diet with medicines. Post prandial sugar value was 150 for both.

Get the retest done before bothering too much. The lab results might be incorrect.

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a gynaecologist specialising in oncology cases in Noida? I need someone for my mother who can’t travel to her regular one in Gurgaon.
