Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

Dentist has adviced me to remove my wisdom tooth as there is a chip on the corner of the tooth and she is unable to put cement due to lack of adequate holding surface.
What are the long term implications of this removal on jaw/ bones around it ?
What are my alternatives?

Hi,
Had a question regarding dental implants. My mother has lost couple of tooths due to age related decay. The dentist is advising implants. I wanted to ask if this is the best treatment ?

It was not a trivial wound. The cut was close to the eye and required my son to be stable while the suturing procedure was performed and hence GA was suggested. This suggestion was even before I opted to go via the insurance process.

Maybe, but I do know that hospitals and doctors have targets to meet - x no. of scans, tests and surgeries to be prescribed and completed month on month.

My dad has tooth implants - I think about 5 of them @40k each.

Even I have one since 5-6 years.

Removable dentures are not comfortable, while the bridge dentures meant filing of the neighboring teeth so I avoided these.

Dental implants currently is the top of the line therapy to replace missing teeth.

However, what is best for one may not be indicated in another patient.

There are a multitude of factors and treatment planning for implants is far more crucial than the actual procedure of placing the implants.

Guys,

We need to get a sleep test done for our daughter, age 7 years to check for sleep apnea. Her tonsils and adenoids are enlarged almost all the time.

Any idea about any long term side effects of tonsils & adenoids removal in kids ?

Any psychologists or psychiatrists recommendations in the NCR area? Looking for some one who can treat ADHD or similar illnesses.

There was few angina pain in last 2-3 months which lead to tests including echo & thalium which were positive. There was no heart attack as such. Patient can walk and perform day to day activities normally.

We Wanted to take a second opinion and asked for discharge. Any good pointers to a recommended cardiologist/surgeon who can decide if the patient is an actual candidate for bypass or stents can do the job.

I know it's a late reply but hope this helps.
Bypass surgery results are very good and it is better provided the Pt is fit for surgery. We have patients on follow up now for nearly 20 years post bypass in our centre now.
Stents are actually an emergency procedure to be done at the time of inital attack as a life saving measure. They can last from 6 months to 10 years.

However usually there is the stigma of surgery and people tend to be inclined towards stents but bypass is a better rather the gold standard long term option.
In delhi who better than dr Naresh Trehan to take a second opinion. Alternatively Dr Meherwal, Dr Yugal Mishra in escorts or Dr Mani in Delhi heart lung institute are very good for your second opinion.

Thanks for your reply, the bypass has been done from Dr. Naresh Trehan & Team in Medanta last month. The patient is well and recovering now. He has been advised 3 months of bed rest for sternum to heal properly.

We took advise from Apollo and Escorts as well and then went to Medanta for the final decision.

Re: Calling doctors/dentists/specialists on Team-BHP to provide free consultations

I had an imprint taken at Clove dental clinic last Sunday on a root canal treated tooth, for a new ceramic metal crown. They told me it is made only in Kerala. It’s been a week now, with floods in Kerala dateline seems uncertain. I find it hard to believe that in all of India this type of crown are made only in Kerala. Is it true that it is made only in Kerala?

hello doctors. this maybe a weird query but I feel it must be made clear. I have a very close friend of mine who is a gym freak. He is training very hard and his trainer came up with a suggestion for him. He advised him to eat Himalaya gokshura. He shared this with me. We could not find any beneficial information on the internet. I want to ask about its effects, its side effects and other harms which it can cause. He is 19 year old. Should he take it?

It is normal for adenoids to be enlarged upto the age of 7-8 years and then later decrease in size. So it would be better to wait and watch at her current age unless the symptoms are so svere that she has difficulty breathing. Sleep apnea is not usually related to this, but is rather related to obesity etc.

There is no long term problem due to adenotonsillectomy but only get it done at this age if the symptoms are very svere because it is after all a surgery done under General anesthesia. Get a second opinion if you think your ENT specialist is pushing for it despite minimal symptoms.

Yes this is true. I have googled this info myself. The company there is very big. And they have a very good cad & cam department. Google it you will like their manufacturing process. And let's pray and give support to people of Kerala at this juncture.

This is partially true. Kerala has one of the largest dental manufacturing facility ( dental lab) in asia, so many dentists across the world (including myself) get their dental work done by them. That does not mean that crowns are made only in kerala.

As per the communication I received from them, While the lab facility in itself wasn’t affected by floods, as it stands on quite high ground (i have personally visited the facility, so i know) , the operations were suspended due to logistical reasons. Closure of kochi airport being one of them. The facility has started its production again wef today (19/8/18). So you should be getting your crown soon and a good one.
