BIG FLIX : Unlimited DVD Rental at reasonable prices

Hi guys,

Any of you are using this service from seventy mm http://bangalore.seventymm.com/Browse/Default.aspx renting dvd/vcd online? Looks like this service is available in Bangalore and Delhi only. How is the feedback? Kind of service similar to Netflix in USA. Wish they start in Hyderabad soon.

service feedback is appreciated.

Thats cool. But why joining fees???. And a 1000 RS deposit???. 2 movies dont cost 1000 RS even if somebody were to damage / steal his 2 disc's.
That's 1500 Rs just to get started, a big entry barrier I would imagine.

In the US, the game has moved on to downloadable movies. Netflix is also rumored to be starting a similar service soon. Once movie downloads are made available by these companies outside of US too, things might really shake up.

How's bigflix at Bangalore??
For the broadband option, this is what they say!!

=======
What is the quality of downloaded videos?
We take the original high quality studio materials and convert these using state-of-the-art equipment for high quality viewing on your PC. We offer 'Super High Quality' videos that is equivalent to DVD quality. The technical specifications are: DVD equivalent resolution, a bitrate of 1500 Kbps with 96Kbps audio. The average size of a full length movie download is 1100 MB (1.1 GB).
========

Not sure whether they are going to give good quality for download options!!
if current users can provide some feedback, it would be good..
thanks.

I use BigFlix and it is pretty decent. Their pickup service is quite useful since Indian postal service is not like that in US.

The collection is also decent unless you are into rare and unpopular movies.

I subscribed to Bigflix a couple of months ago and I am happy. They have prompt delivery and a decent collection of movies. Definitely recommended.

BIG FLIX : Unlimited DVD Rental at reasonable prices

Anybody using the services of BIG FLIX? It's a new concept of renting DVD movies. I think they have recently started this concept in Hyderabad too after other cities.

Rs.1800 ( 1 Year Subscription) if you pay through ICICI Card. which is equivalent to Rs.5 X 365 days!!! Otherwise, its Rs.3000

Salient Features :

Daily 1 DVD will be delivered at your doorstep free of cost

If you want to pick-up personally then you can take any number of DVD's/Day. However, only DVD can be picked up at a time.

They have monthly/Quartery/Half yearly OR 1-2-3 DVD/Day plan too. However, they are expensive. For e.g Rs.299/Month fee for a 1 DVD /Day plan

Just need some feedback regarding its services, quality of the DVD's etc before i subscribe for an annum!

I did check this out, the only issue is that the movies you get are not the latest ones.(i can het more recent releases from my local guy) also was not impressed with the english collection they had. But this was a few months back, please do check their offerings list before you look at subscribing.

Hi mobike008,
I am a subscriber of BIGFlix for the past three months. The scheme which they are offering now for ICICI card holders is about 40% off on the actual membership.
You would like this service if you are more intrested in watching old movies in new DVD prints with great quality. You cant expect brand new movies which are just released to be available with them, your neighboorhood DVD store guy would be better for that.
I suggest you try out their one month offer by paying Rs.299 if you have an ICICI card you do get 40% off on that. With this offer you can watch any number of movies per day,but you can carry only movie at a time.
I prefer to walk in their store and pick my movie rather than call them up because if you want to watch a movie suppose tomorrow morning you need to call them up today evening itself.
Forgot to mention the best part of it, you can keep the movie any number of days with you without having to pay any late charges.

Thanks D.V.R and Sammyboy.

I reckon i will try the one month package first. Their store is walking distance from my home so it is also quite convenient.

Btw, when i was speaking to their customer care, he was referring to Tare Zameen Par as a new movie.

I should have inferred from that what is "Latest" according to them.

Anyways, will walk into their store at Himayathnagar tomorrow and check their collection before deciding.

Its like Netflix or Blockbuster in USA.

Works very well in US, as postal services are reliable.
In India, I have had horrid experiences with postal services.

If big flix is going to deliver DVDs via regular post, then I would be skeptical.

I have experienced Netflix in the US and as you rightly said, they are awesome.

Thanks god, Bigflix is not via. postal service but delivery by their own people.

There are so many others like them here who offer the same rates. Have you checked out SeventyMM? They are older than BigFlix and are based on the same concept. Rates and T&C is also similar I believe. SeventyMM is stationed in the ICICI building in Madhapur, just outside Barista.

Then of course Cinema Paradiso has always been here in hyderabad since ages. They even offer a lounge-on-rent funda for those times when you wish to entertain a few of your friends etc to a personal theater experience.
