re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

Yesterday, there was an impromptu TBHP Dinner meet at Milecruncher's abode.

Sarvi Haleem : This was the best haleem that I had till now. Slightly spicy, thick and well grounded/minced meat with lots of ghee and dry fruits. One is enough to put you to sleep. Thanks Arcot !!!

Baba Chulha ( Yet Again..Wheww) : All of us ordered the identical Mutton Tikka Roll. Excellent as usual.

All this talk of food is making me hungry. Time to look forward to lunch and plan to pick up yummy take-away from my favorite restuarant Reshmi's at Parklane......More on it later

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

First haleem of the season - started with the trusted Sarvi - family pack @280/- and after everyone in my family (except me - will eat a little late) and couple of guests ate, there is still so much left another family of 4 can eat it. Guess I will stick to single portions in future.

The Haleem was mind-blowing. Despite having finished my dinner, I gorged half a plate of it.

Rolls from Baba's Chulha have become a standard fare in our weekly diet. I'm so glad that BC is walkable from my place, and he does not charge delivery charges to me in case I'm too lazy to walk.

Based on feedback, I think I will give Kritunga a shot this week.

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

Sunday lunch got a takeway from "Reshmi's" in Parklane

1. Chicken Tangdi Kebab (Rs.150) : This is always excellent here. I think the name is incorrect but not able to recall the correct name. These are extremely well marinated chicken tangdi wrapped in silver foil.

2. Kheema Masala ( Rs.150) : Best Kheema in town. Period

3. Kheema Biryani (Rs.140) : Essentially same kheema in large quantities with rice. Not your regular hyderabad style biryani but, wifey's favorite and quite good.

For dinner, picked up a plate of Fish Fry (Rs.200) from Fishland at Lakdi-ka-pul as we went there to enjoy masala thumbs-up after snacking on Gol Gappas and Jalebi at Dadu's in Himayathnagar.

Fish Fry was excellent and was presented quite nicely.

Back to sprouts, fruits and other un-interesting thing for rest of the week

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

The Big Bazar Mall at Ameerpet is on its way to death.

Slowly, steadily, naturally but surely.

Ohri's have wound up the food court on its 4th floor.

Of the 4 lifts, only 1 was working and that too got stuck.

I visited Rajdhani Thali for lunch today.

Priced @ 209 all inclusive for lunch and dinner on weekdays. Bottled water is complimentary.

Looks like lack of visitors to this mall has taken away the customers from this thali place also.

Just 2 other tables were occupied and another 2 tables got customers while I was there. A total of 5 tables occupancy for the whole of lunch time.

It is also going to die soon unless they shift out.

Food was not as interesting as earlier times and many items were missing from the menu.

Imagine eating that thali without any dhokla.

No supersonic service where a line of servers bring so many goodies that your thali is overflowing before you realise what is happening.

Nothing at all, they now ask if you want anything and then get the stuff from the kitchen.

Will wait for them to shift out and revive themselves else Bye Bye Rajdhani Thali at Hyderabad.

PS : The food was not bad, it is just that they have bench-marked themselves so high in the past that I will not accept them as a second rung venue.

There is only one BC in Hyderabad and yes, it's on RBR. Actually, its on end of RBR towards the somajiguda circle.

I was at Ohri's Jiva last evening for Dinner and was surprised to see that they levy 10% SC.The most irritating part is that they charge 10% SC on take away as well.

I was there at Rajdhani Thali last Tuesday for dinner and I didn't like it one bit. The food taste was not so good and the waiters/stewards were not at their best. As stated by you, need to keep asking them for stuff.

Will wait for them to improve their service before venturing there again.

Herbal Ghee Paneer Herbal Desi Ghee Fresh Cream Mava (Khoa) Lassi Chaas Shrikhand White Butter Basundi Rabadi Kharvas Milk Curd Kulfi Pro Biotic Curd now has a branch in Jubilee Hills Rd #36.

Its opposite the heritage fresh store. You need to cross fresh and take the next U-Turn.
The store is sandwiched between a Ice Cream Parlour and a wine shop.

The Rabdi was excellent. Not too sweet not too thick. Just perfect.
I also ended up picking up some paare(black pepper). Very nice.

Check them out. I have a feeling Mr Bajaj is going to like this place.

You can be pretty sure I will like the place. Thanks!

They make the most awesome "paneer" I have ever had in my life. Much better than Delhi.

They also have some lovely chat masala they sell along with the paneer for an extra amount. It comes in a very nice salt type shaker.

Just slice the paneer, sprinkle a little masala and you are all set to enjoy the snack. No cooking required, no milky smell, just great taste.

Above opinion based on the paneer eaten at and packed for home from their Lokhandwala outlet during my last visit to Mumbai.

re: A Guide: Eating out in Hyderabad/Secunderabad/Cyberabad

Me & Wifey went to News Cafe for dinner last night

Spicy Grilled Prawns - Spicy & Succulent (4/5)
Steak & Eggs - Ordered the steak medium rare, came with mashed patato, fried tamato, eggs sunny side up, ham & toast on the side - Very well made, the meat was just mealting in the mouth (4.5/5)
Spaghetti Meatball Classic - with beef and ham (4.5/5)
4 Beverages

The place was not very crowded as it was a monday; and couldn't sit out in the open as it started raining. The inside seating is pretty confortable when not crowded. Overall lovely place with the USP being the outside seating overlooking the lake and the hills beyond and the amazing variety of beef & pork dishes.

Damages:
Bill: 2550.00
SC @ 7.5%: 191.25
VAT @ 14.5%: 239.17
ST @ 3.09%: 78.80
Total: 3059.00

Over all rating: 4/5
Will definately visit more often!!

Sabby, the first picture looks yummy. Steak as in beef? Do they also have mutton steaks?

What's the average cost of the dishes? Seems quite pricey though

Yup it's beef in the pic. They do have mutton and salmon steaks as well.

The average cost of the steakes would be around 500-700; definitely on the expensive side but worth visiting once in a while or on special occasions
