My mistake, i was using wikipedia as reference!

I see that Cricket players are rated high in these award. Something to do with the strenght of BCCI.

may be every kid who tries to come on the block has to wither off the storm at home, school & work place of SECURING THE FUTURE/EARNING LOADS OF MONEY/A SECURED JOB & that thins down the appetite to win medals coupled with non affordable technological advances which incur huge cost burden

Re: India in Olympics !!

Bumping an old thread.

Looks like we might be bidding for the 2036 Olympics.

It's very early days yet of course and a long way to go, but since the possibility has been raised, must say I am ambivalent.

On one hand- it would be great to have an Olympics, just the atmosphere, the upgraded general infra, the definite boost to sporting infra and prospects.

On the other hand- the costs (https://finance.yahoo.com/news/olymp...160012285.html), the potential corruption, the fact that special-purpose infra built only for the games tends to remain unused and deteriorates.

While I would be very excited at the prospect of being able to watch at least some Olympic events live, I'm also of the view that a country should host only after there has been a long tradition of doing well at other Olympics and using already existing sports infra- once it already gets to a point where it has world-class sports facilities that athletes use and will continue to use after the games. What happens now with quite a few (non-cricket) sports facilities is that after a headline event, like a nationals or regional competition, they remain unused and all that money goes to waste.

Absolutely against it. Vehemently!
Hosting an Olympic event is pure wastage. It is literally money down the drain.

Unless they plan this in a tier Z city which they built from ground up, I will always oppose this.
