Re: Do you play the stock market

I received a strange mail from ICICI Direct. It says I need to change my registered email id because my email is in rediff domain, which is actually so.

Is this some scam? The mail looks genuine though.

Maybe Rediff mail is shutting down. Just a thought.

Zerodha had sent such an email some time back. There are concerns about the security levels of Rediffmail.

I am contemplating to start with smallcase. Any advice on which fund manager to start with?
Post Covid I tried many smallcases mostly from Weekendinvesting, Teji Mandi and Green Portfolio. They did well during the time because the market was uptrending. Exited all with reasonably good profits.

Cost wise most of them are reasonable. But I had issues with the ones that had weekly rebalances because of the nature of my job and also because of inability to complete the process on time owing to circuits. They have the potential to hit circuits resulting in delayed executions and huge slippages from the model portfolio. I had also created a couple of my own smallcases but then a few stocks in the basket doing well while others lagging behind always got me confused at the weekends when I would review them.

Few months back a lot of Zerodha trading accounts got hacked and the hackers punched FnO orders in illiquid scripts. Basically transferred money from one account to other. One common things among those accounts were that mostly all of them were having their registered email under rediff domain, and apparently it's easier to hack the accounts with rediff as it lacks certain crucial security components. So yeah, change your email id asap.

Is it the same as Tata Technologies? I was looking for the IPO which will be soon I guess. When you mean by already owning shares, are you asking for unlisted shares ownership like PE?

Yes, Tata Technologies. I was wondering if any fellow member could enlighten us with his ownership of unlisted share journey in it.

Re: Do you play the stock market

Any genuine experts here care to comment on the relentless bull run since mid March? Market has moved in one line non stop without any correction whatsoever. Very strange. Some stocks like reliance, KOTAKBANK, HDFCBANK are showing very strange movement.

I am not a genuine expert (not even a fake expert), but I am heavily invested in stock market and have to track it's movement.

I do not agree that there is a bull run. The market is fluctuating a lot since one year. It falls for small rumours or big news, but then comes back. This is a relentless cycle and a good opportunity to enter and exit. I want to see it cross 63000, then it will be a bull run. For people like me, we just pray that it overcomes this ceiling or else, we are at the same place at what we were an year ago.

Sorry, I do not track individual stocks, I have become an ETF Bhakt! Icicib22 is something I love to buy whenever I get money or my other stock becomes green, which I can sell to buy this ETF. Track this and it will not dissapoint you. I live like a Monk nowadays, these dips or gains do not worry me.

In stock markets usually what is answered much earlier than why. Reason for a move follows much later. When a strong momentum is getting played out it is not wise to not trust it or go against it.

So if you are a trader, just take an entry as per your setup and follow the trend trailing the SL. If you are an investor follow the larger cycle ignoring the smaller cycles.

Note: Just because I aired my view does not make me an expert.

I remember Tata Motors was desperate to sell Tata Technologies a few years back. If I am right Tata Motors failed to find a buyer multiple times(https://economictimes.indiatimes.com...8.cms?from=mdr. I just can not understand how this company has become a buzz stock now.

By common definition, this is too soon and too less to be called a bull run.

In general, there is a perception in the market to move funds towards companies that are domestic consumption based. Also index funds have gained a lot of prominence. The three stocks mentioned in your post seem to be aligned with these themes. But the fact is that the market has become so complex nowadays that it's becoming difficult to make sense of recent past, forget about predicting the future.

PS: I am a genuine expert at providing my opinions in the stock market. But not an expert on the stock market itself

Isn't it true for many of the listed companies if not most?

Re: Do you play the stock market

Hopefully this is the correct thread to post my query. (I have done a google search and found a similar query in the past but without a response)

I have a demat account that needs closing but there are 300 shares of this company called "Sanghi Polyesters Ltd. This is not listed on BSE or NSE and I have not been able to find out if the shares are delisted or the company itself is liquidated.

There is some urgency in closing the account.

I have not been able to find any solution till now. I have tried to contact the registrars. McAffee flags the group company website as suspicious.

Anyone has faced a similar problem and found a solution.

If by chance there are some collectors of dud shares in this group, I will gladly transfer these shares to them. DM me and FCFS

Have you considered re-materialization? With that I think you would be able to clear out your demat account (of course with the re-mat charges) with the dud paper shares in your hand.
