I believe what he means is 22 karat gold is .9167% pure as compared to 24 karat at .9999% so 22/24 part of his equation is .9167.

Thanks. So, I take it as standard procedure. Power of Attorney is required.

Yes, it is. However, I remember cases where it has been abused by some brokers - I think it was IndiaBulls, IIRC.

Re: Do you play the stock market

Guys,

Good time to invest?
Have a couple of Ks to invest.
Would appreciate MFs/SIP suggestions too.

Should I take up some stocks or stick to FDs?

This is money I'm looking to save up with fair liquidity (expected).
Still, I would like to see returns anywhere from 6 months to 3-5 years.
Although - prefer short term (<1 year) investments.

P.S.already invested in Renuka Sugar, Financial Tech, Union / HDFC bank ( @ almost within 10-20% of 52 wk lows ).

Thanks,

Ace.

Re: Do you play the stock market

Does anyone here use TRUST?
Here is the link: https://www.ilfsdp.com/finalnew/CDSL/Annexure-2.6.pdf

IL&FS requires me to select either a Yes or a No to use this facility. I think I will select No for now.

Re: Do you play the stock market

My demat account is finally going to be activated today (or latest by tomorrow.)
I have no experience with stock market but can risk losing Rs. 50000 (which by the way I intend to stay invested with, for a few years.)
Can someone recommend some stocks for me?

I assume when I make some money, there is no income tax I need to pay for the gains. Please correct me if I am wrong.

TCS - 10K
M&M - 10K
ITC - 10K
LUPIN - 10K
HDFC Bank - 5K
HDFC - 5k

This diversified portfolio should do well over a period of time, with low volatility and decent returns.

Hold for atleast one year, and your gains are tax free.

Re: Do you play the stock market

I bought Hercules Hoist at 105, now at 96, PC Jeweller at 105 now at 96.xx , Apollo Tyres at 74.40 now at 74.70 & HDIL at 47.63 now 43.45 purely as short term buy's. Also, bought Zee Media as a multi-bagger which means it can be held for at least 3 - 6 months. All bought a week or so before Diwali. Apart from Apollo Tyres & Zee Media I am not sure if I should hold onto the rest. What do the expert's here suggest? If I sell all my short term buys I make a loss of about 20K.
