Re: All Tata Safari Owners - Your SUV Pics here

Thought to post pic of my Safari to give you an idea on how to fit front bar for aux lights. I got it made by my tinker and then got it chromed. plastic ends are base from metal cots. Additional support is given from inside.

Re: All Tata Safari Owners - Your SUV Pics here

Those are amazing set of photos tsk. IMO, The first picture is the best. Hope your Safari did not give any starting trouble.

How did the Safari behave on such snow-covered roads? Did you use any snow-chains on the tyres?

Re: All Tata Safari Owners - Your SUV Pics here

I think these are the most Awe pics of the Safari and TML can easily use them for their advertisements.

Man, You really rock...

BTW, even i dont see snow chains on your tyres...

Thanks guys.
I do not have snow chains. Wanted to get some, but unable to procure them. Sometimes, when car is on an incline and unable to get out even in 4WD, I tie a nylon rope around the wheels.

On our feb 2013 trip, it snowed heavily and road got blocked. We were in the Toyota Liva diesel. There was so much snow that even MUVs stopped plying. Tied nylon ropes to the front wheels, and they lasted till Kufri, By kufri they fell off due to friction and all, but 50kms+ was enough to get us out of the whiteout.

Speaking of starting trouble, the Safari gives starting trouble only at high altitude.
Here it started at first crank, ran for 100meters and then died. Would not start again.

Checked the hand crank bulb, and it was frozen solid. Icing in the sedimenter I guess.

After that I somehow pumped fuel manually a little bit, started vehicle.

It tried dying a couple of times, and even gave a P1253 error code(I dunno what it means), but once the engine warmed up, and recirculation pipe sent enough fuel to the tank to thaw everything nice and tidy, she was fine.

However, one thing permanently caught a cold. The temp sensor went to -10 overnight(as skies cleared), and now it shows -8 no matter what.

Re: All Tata Safari Owners - Your SUV Pics here

This pic was taken by Arvindmanju on New year's eve in the Nilgiris, the sky was clear and very less ambient lighting, so we decided to experiment. Time was around 9.30 pm.

Thats quite a marvelous shot. did you leave the blinkers on? Ideally you should use the central locking to just blink them once.
BTW, did you know, the hunter was in the sky? So the hunter and the hunted
It would have been epic pic if you had captured your sun sign in the frame!

Tanveer, as you rightly said, we switched on and switched off the Hazard light switch just once to get this effect, like I mentioned we were experimenting different settings and exposures, thanks for pointing out the marvellous heavenly configuration, alas, I'm clueless to astronomy so did not give much thought to the display above.

Hi Tanveer, great pics as always Dude I sometimes wonder how you manage to get to so many beautiful places, and click such amazing snaps! I guess one day you're gonna get a call from Mr. Tata's sales promotion department, and soon we're going to witness the finesse of your steed on roads beyond our country's boundaries.
PS: I hate the fact that Dicor is no longer available in 4x4.

Thanks for your lovely reply. Unfortunately, most of my calls are with Tata service department, where they say sorry and ask for feedback score of 10, and I abuse them left right and center for the latest fiasco.
Such is life!
