re: All Tata Safari Owners - Your SUV Pics here

Safari Dicor VTT-TMT End Dec 2011 journey [night travel -> Kolkata - Varanasi - Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Kolkata]

Absolutely safe and much more relaxed travel from Kolkata for an overnight trip to Varanasi, leaving Kolkata at 5 pm and reaching Varanasi at 3 am. Parking right at Dasashwamed ghat.

So if anyone planning, let me say it is absolutely safe to travel via Jharkhand and Bihar at night, this being the second trip at night over these 2 states.

Again left Varanasi at 10 pm for an overnight journey to Agra, reaching at 6 am, morning.

Last day was at Fatehpur Sikri UP tourism Gulistan, fantastic place for the price. Return journey from Fatehpur Sikri [3 pm ] to Kolkata [1 pm ] in 22 hours. Panagarh area is bad, mega jams happening nowadays - jump the truck queue or else stuck for anywhere between 2-6 hours.

Few VTT images.
Removed the jump seats and made a bunk bed for son, for all the overnight journeys involved.

Return journey from Fatehpur Sikri to Kolkata in 22 hours, a tea break at Bihar, late night.

Again a no-issue journey by the one and only Safari VTT-TMT. It is now over 4 years old and 80,000 km young. Still it has so many miles to go and places to travel to! Will be updating the ownership thread on the travels done till now.

adc what you have made for your son though innovative is a big safety issue for the child. in the event of a collision the effects will be disastrous to say the least i feel you should remove it asap regardless of how comfy it is for the lil master.

Thats a wonderful mod which you have made for your beast so that atleast you can provide the Comfort to your Son, hats of to you.

there is one more option which might have helped you the roof carrier so that the Luggage goes on room and removing the wooden frame, having a Bed there, which can give more comfort.

i have done this once, and now i have a third row in My Beast.. and now its a 7+1 for me.. with a roof carrier.

4) Most importantly I remember many journeys taken over the last 6 years, the speedo needle stuck at 90kmph, the air-con blasting away cold-air, the safari drumming down the highway, and me looking at the rear view mirror to find everyone fast asleep and snoring - including the dog!
good one

Yes thought about this long and hard. It does remain an issue like when if the Safari does a roll, otherwise it has been pretty much tested during emergency braking and swerving, and he remains okay.

On the whole it is as safe as we see sleepers in an overnight bus, may be!

Roof carrier of course one used will give me more options, but I have been avoiding the roof option as long as possible due to 1] that it removes that clean look of the Safari and 2] handling would be a problem with the luggage that we carry around during our holidays

Now a days you can install the roof carriers and remove them.

but in my beast its always there since i have a pet at home(which is just like a son to me) its there with me from its day 15th of its birth now with my sister as i am not in India, and the rear(i have made it a full seat for him) but can be used for family if required.

when i was blessed with a baby i carried almost half of my car with all the luggage to drop the little fellow in my home town, and it really helped, it helped in other occasions when there were 7 people in my beast and with full luggage in the carrier, and now performance and handling issues. but again its a personal opinion.

but you can look at the options of removing it which would be great(again its a personnel choice as you said)
