Here are two snaps of my Safari with a luggage rack. I have the Highlander - it comes in two sizes - I have the bigger one. It has served me really well - I have carried all kinds of stuff on it - from 20' long pipes to ladders to stuff weighing 80-90 kgs. IMHO the Highlander carrier really looks good on the Safari.

Sorry about the poor picture quality - took it from my phone.

Cheers

Thanks for those photos Anand.. Yes it looks very good and probably better than the Tata ones. Can you please share how much it cost you, and where in Bangalore you bought and fitted it?

That black nudge guard looks nice on your white Safari, sgmitr13. Mind sharing it's make , model # (if any) & price? Also, is it specific to the Safari or will it fit a Scorpio too?

Cheers,
Vikram

Vikram,
That's carryboy nudgeguard (model ???) bought here in Bangalore.
I went to Infiniti Accessory shop near to Richmond circle, they then sourced from the Bangalore dealer. It costed me approx 8000. It's not made for Safari, but these guys have a locally made brackets made of cast iron to fit cars on our Indian market.

Shall ping you with the exact model later.

Ciao ... Mahesh

This was purchased from Kumar Automobiles (..:: Welcome to Kumar's Automobiles & Agencies ::..) - they are the master distributor/importer for Highlander in India. Their showroom is near JC Road - the right turn after the multi-story car park.

I bought it almost 3-4 years back - at that time it cost me 4000 or 4500.

Highlander has a good nudge guard too... am planning to visit and get that one of these days.. very similar to the carry-boy design featured in the previous page photos... last time I asked them, they were quoting 7500 for it.

I am not 100% sure, but I think the manager's name is Sathish.

Cheers

Some pics of our 5 yr old Beast....:)

@pavankadam:

Wow! that beauty still looks like new. Could you tell which specific RED color shade is this? Also, it would be a great help if you could provide a little detail on the ownership till now, You could PM me or if you have already running a thread on it, please divert me there. :)

P.S: What's the location?

Thanks buddy. :)

The color is called Cherry Red. This color came in only during June 2006 till Aug 2006 and later discontinued. As per my info TATA's sold only 20000 Red Safari's.

Ownership has been pretty peaceful since the last 5 years, with the Beast run only 35000 kms, a Fantastic FE of 12kmpl and 0% issues.clap:

There is a thread somewhere, but its been too long since i've updated there.

I get it detailed inside, outside and even the underchassis every 6 months to keep it in the same condition the way we brought it in 2006.

Apart from that, me and my bro makes sure that we clean in up ourselves every week, apply wax and polish it almost once every month.

Its been our dream car since we were kids and we would like to keep it that way.

We do that with almost all cars at home......

Here's my Tata Safari 4x4, 2003 - TCIC.
Sorry about the picture quality, pictures captures from cell phone camera.

Anuj & Pavan - well kept Safaris both there. Cheers!

BTW has anyone noticed the option given for Headlight washer on the older Safari's.

I have not seen one with that feature, but the bumpers sure do reveal the option was actually available....

Any specific time duration you can tell when this feature was available? Or whether this is meant for export grade Safari?
