Thanks DOW, I guess you are right, but I am dead against bull bars. It defeats the point of having Air Bags.

Just for the sake of clarification, Bull bars are not an alternative for Air bags from any perspective. Bull bars can, at best, protect your bumpers from the occasional nudges and scratches in heavy city traffic. They can not offer you the kind of safety which you would get from Air Bags in the unfortunate event of a high speed crash.

Bull Bars interfere with proper working of controlled deformation (in other words crumple zones), airbag sensors are also affected if present behind the front bumper.

However in a body-on-ladder-frame vehicle it doesn't matter much. Moreover Bullbars can be installed in such a manner to have the clamp give away rather than taking the impact to the ladder frame.

Have some more pics?

thanks ADC. yes i am sure i will not forget my last munnar trip because of the roads we travelled. our plan was to try the road from koviloor to kodaikanal but failed in our attempt because of the rain and the construction of a bridge blocked the road. we tried the 6 km jungle route from kandalur to kundala (munnar), through anamudi shola. that was one of the best drive i ever had and it was a confidence booster for me on my safari 4X4

I am posting few pictures taken in various places. I will load more pictures in coming days.

Ravi.

Ravi,

So the deal did go thru. Congrats!

So, how far have your driven on your Safari so far? A buying & ownership review please!

And which spot is this?

Nice to hear from you Suresh. Purchased the vehicle in OCT. 2009 and have travelled 7000km in 8 months. Covered the Circuit Bangalore - Hassan - Sirsi - Ankola - Kemmangundi - Wayanad - Mysore - Ooty - Chamarajnagar and so on.

Interestingly I have driven this TIGER in many places mainly around Sirsi first time among my 7 vehicle ownership. Will write ownership report around July-September 2010 after completing the service(Expected cost 12,000/- including battery change). In last 8 months have visited 3 times to service station and spent 3000/- on general check up and fluid/oil top up.

This is my last vehicle in this owning 7 cars dream (2003-2012) vehicle cost including all 7 vehicles including service cost is 8.5 lacs + 1.5 lacs reserved for service in future. I will keep this Safari untill I spend 1.5 lacs on maintanance or untill 2012.

Regards,

Ravi.

PS However I might grab Innova this year end but not sure!!

@ Ravi, nice pics, it would help if you captioned them based on where the photos were clicked, I see some nice backgrounds there.

Good to hear you've been riding a "TIGER", just don't let go of it's tail.
Speaking of tails, is that your way of preventing the spare wheel cover from being stolen? By masking it in photos?

What can't be seen, can't be filched. Right?
The most "innova"tive idea so far.

@Luke: ROFL! Good one!

@Ravi: A petrol 4x4 is the ultimate in forest safari! The name "Tiger" is apt!

And 8 months 7,000 kms and you spent 3,000 Rs? Why so much? Preventive or was it due to an issue? How much has the vehicle done so far?

Ask that question to his driver, That fellow seems to have driven on the Clutch most of the times.:Frustrati

Last discussion with Ravi a fortnight ago, he told me how his new driver abused the car by riding on the clutch during his ooty trip. Is your big bill because of that Ravi?

And Hari (Luke), one more good news, Ravi has started driving the car all by himself right now.clap:

Thanks for the response team, In OCT 2010 while buying this vehicle only issue I felt was Power steering and some oil leak while buying to fix the gasket or top up the oil I have paid 1000/- and in March. 2010 general service before I took 3000km trip in various places I have paid 1600/- towards general check/clutch bleeding/all 4 brakes cleaning/washing. Another 400/- towards engine oil top up in 8 months.

Back wheel cover I masked it because it had no wheel cover LOL I felt it is not looking good!! I don't have reason why I masked it. Later on I removed wheel cover because it looked better without cover and less rattling.

I have driven my Safari in highway/jungles around Sirsi. I loved the driving!! Performance wise it is almost near to Petrol Innova. Average FE is around 10kmpl. I never felt like I am driving 6+ years old vehicle after I did general service. Concorde, mysore road people did good job exactly to my expectations.

2 weeks back while climbing DottaPetta ghat near Ooty my temporarily hired driver (He is master but unfortunately did clutch riding!! I was sitting in the back and didn't notice) afraid vehicle might dragged back in the ghat section and did too much of clutch riding in traffic jam and sudden bad smell and smoke from clutch plates created some issue. But immediately alerted by my wife about smell I made him stop the vehicle side by for hour and things cool down luckily. My regular driver was not feeling well and felt so bad about incident. Anyway this is second time similar issues happened by hired drivers in 7 years.

But I don't what extent damage is done!! Vehicle is normal right now, I cant see any issues but I will know once I show it to service station soon.

I still couldnot turn up for the meets and I wanted to have Safari experts like Kadam/Luke/Happywheels drive my vehicle for their feedback which would help me during my next service.

Within 2 months of ownership by using system G and Castrol GTX and tuning I made this TIGER omit water along with very less smoke. Safari's engine is very good for sure If maintained very well!! Its comfort is unmatched!!

I felt so bad moement I baught it first time I don't have guts to take it on highways!! else I would have not allowed anyone to drive it unless my 2 of regular drivers are available. My Sirsi friend cum driver (he has 1 million km driving experience) certified my driving this time and he advised me to drive it on highways too!! Lets see how I will use the opportunity LOL

Regards,

Ravi.
