Though if someone were upgrading to VX 4X2 over the GX 4X4, I would say that GX 4X4 makes more sense, the airbags some into play only after an accident, and in a large SUV may not be critical.

+1 to the above. Going for ABS makes more sense than 4x4. (Well, you will finally regret that you did not go for a 4x4 GX, but that will be another story).

For a SUV of this mass, having ABS is a must-have IMHO.

Here are few pics of the Black tigress from our short weekend trip to Khajuraho and Pandav falls. This was our first trip in this black beauty, and she took everything in her stride to give us a smooth ride in a mostly bumpy and dusty NH 86.

After seeing these pics, i am kind of inclined to upgraded to a GX 4x4 Time to rethink. Your beast looks absolutely beautiful.

@LongDrivelover: this trip was the spiti loop, and the pictures are along the loop. I have a 3L EX 4x4. It is possible to do it in a 4x4, but there are many places where you might have to half clutch, which can be avoided in a 4x4

@Trancenut and bj96. Amazing pictures.

@Trancenut, can you pl. share:

(1). The location of this trip, the scenery is so beautiful, jut couldn't resist asking it. (2). Do you have 4x2 or 4x4. (3). The place you visited (as shown in these pics), can it be done with a 4x2 without any risk of getting stuck?

Thanks Nordmariner

Thanks ACM, yup the places have no help around in case something happens, but over th last 2 years, the truck has never let me down, so my confidence is pretty good in it, tho u can never be sure of a TATA lol:

Pretty unforgiving territory. Impressive.

The truck created a lot of splash on this trip :)

Great pics LDL, the first trip [wherever it may be ] always remain a cherished one for long. Hope you have good tours in future!

Missed out on your images, fantastic pictures among all the snow. The spare tyre cover with "Safari" written is way, way better than our current model with that oversized overfed "T" Really dont like to take the backside photo because of that "T"! Best of luck on your future tours.

This reminds me of our picture in Spiti itself last year [October 2008], all the splashing and dashing!! Great consecutive pics of two generation Safaris performing with aplomb. Koi shak?? :cool:

Excellent stuff clap:....now stop being lazy & post the rest of them, will ya - this one picture every two weeks is kinda depressing:D!!!

sierrakamat - the TCIC looks good, when (if it was) was it repainted last?

Was it originally with blue colour cladding or was the cladding grey originally.

Mine is the same colour 2001 TCIC with grey cladding.

@ adc. Thanks. Yes, first visits are always memorable. I too agree that our present spare wheel cover doesn't look as nice as the previous one.

@ trance_nut. Thanks for sharing the info.

@ sierrakamat. Great view. It looks like coming from the showroom! Old is Gold, as they say.

Here it is, parked at my office.

the vehicle belonged to some minister and was in original paint added the ice and the 16 inch alloys only the cladding was painted blue rest is original paint the chrome alloys were not being showcased properly with the gray cladding as you can see in my avatar.bought the vehicle 1 YEAR back and worked on it so looks like it has come from the showroom

ACM where in mumbai are you i you look just like me only the spare tyres are differenty contoured and my safari has painted cladding please check abouy childhood visits to any mela:D
