re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

Finally, the Sunrisers Hyderabad open their tally and cruise to 5th place, thanks to the healthy NRR. It is worthy to note that SRH always had healthy NRR from last 4 seasons and in the last season, it was their NRR which put them in playoffs despite losing as many games as the other bottom 2/3 teams.

Though the victory was comfortable, I believe they should have sent Kedhar Jadhav or the other Indian batsmen retaining Kane for middle order. Sending your top 3 in-form batsmen in 1,2 & 3 positions might become risky when the target is huge.

Bring in Natarajan after he recuperates and with Warner, Kane and Johnny, shall be complete.

Couldn't have agreed more. Not belittling the effort by Faf but that was a batting beauty where any decent Batsman can be Bradman. Chahar bowled with skill and planning and taking 4 top order wickets on that road is a big achievement. If anyone watches Cricbuzz post match show, in that couple of matches back Simon Doull even called his fellow commentators imbecile for always awarding Player of the Match to batsman ignoring the bowlers always.

Anyways, Russell is a monster and he showed it yesterday and that's why he should get minimum 30 balls every innings. He can win you matches single handedly. After his and DK effort the hurricane from Cummins came and though I don't like KKR I was still hoping they could win it.

Cricbuzz Live is the best ever pre, mid and post-analysis show ever.

Wow, it was nice to watch RCB win again, this time they made it look so easy and won it under 17 overs without losing any wickets

Devdutt Padikkal played an excellent game and overshadowed Kohli for a long time before Kohli found his timing and quickly got his scoring rate up.

Hope RCB go on to win more games.

A lot of things are striking the right notes for RCB except one, Chahal's bowling. If Chahal gets back to his groove, RCB will emerge out an even stronger side.

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

DC is my primary team.
After that I support RCB cos of ABD and Virat.
DDP was fantastic tonight. Yes, RR bowling was mediocre and pitch was a road but he played some great shots. Kohli provided the perfect anchor supporting role.

RR may get the wooden spoon. Stokes, archer, Livingstone absence is hitting them hard. Plus they made the most inconsistent batsman as their Captain who seems lost on field. Morris for 16 crore was an overpriced buy and that's showing. Team looks disinterested and lacking in passion to perform.

Anyways, top 4 right now looks as MI, CSK, RCB and DC. Still long way but these teams looks more settled and balanced to go to playoffs.

It was a good win for Punjab Kings. Finally their Batting and Bowling clicked in same match.

There is something fundamentally wrong with KKR. They are like VWs of IPL. Strong individual parts, expensive maintenance and still find it difficult to add numbers to the sales chart! They have a great combo of 1.2 TSI (Morgan) & DSG (Russel) with decade old strong build (Karthik). It's time the new 1.0 TSI ( Gill, Rana, Prasidh) become more reliable especially after they have ceased production of TDI (Kuldeep Yadav).

Yesterday's KKR Vs RR game seemed like a repeat of the previous day's MI Vs PBKS. 130 odd is a very low score to defend in Wankhede, but both days the team batting first seemed to struggle. Hope RCB manage to beat CSK today, need a focused performance to win and hopefully Kohli will win the toss as well

Good analogy there, Dre Russ is indeed like the DSG, great while it runs well but one can't predict when it will fail

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

Dan Christian dropped a sitter of a catch to give Jadeja a life and boy did he make the best of it

Up until the 19th over, Harshal Patel had bowled superbly and then he ends up giving away 37 runs in the 20th over to give CSK an above par score of 191. Jadeja completely demolished RCB in that one over. The body language of RCB players looked very bad at the end of the innings, hope they get over it and come out with a positive frame of mind and give their best to try and chase it down.

Enthralling match so far with the tide changing many times for both teams. After the superb start by CSK, RCB did a great job to bring it down from 110 odd in 13 overs to 140 in 18 overs and then the Jadeja juggernaut happened

Edit:Kohli out!

And once in some moons, you get to see something that only Jaddu can play. What hitting! You feel for Harshal who had a superb outing till the end of his 3rd over.

Lovely shots from Jaddu. That one over changed the scheme of this match.

Seems like we are watching Sir Jadeja vs RCB, what a player. ABD had no clue.

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

Law of averages caught up with RCB finally and what a turn of fortunes, I hope RCB doesn't end up being so demoralised after this game that they go on to lose the next few games as well. It's a situation very similar to the 36 all out Vs Australia in the recent test series, so they just need to forget it like a bad dream and stay in a positive frame of mind and bounce back. Easier said than done though!

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

Year after year, SRH keeps depending on their 4 international players to win them the match and the tournament. It is only so much Warner, Bairstow, Kane and Rashid could do. They need to remove such dependency and bring in strong Indian players, match winners.
PS: They should trade Virat, Abhishek, Samad and Shankar all four together and get the Rockstar Jadeja ;-)

Ok since the above isn't possible, why not bring Manish Pandey back. He hasn't been as bad as Virat or Shankar. Kane and Pandey would do wonders on such slow pitches.

Edit A super over. Kane deserves a win.
