Rahane played very well the other day. He did not look to slog but just played pure cricketing shots. I hope he becomes a regular in the Test team. He should fit somewhere at no.3,5 or 6. If i remember correctly he played a couple of games during the England tour & for some weird reasons he was being over-aggressive with his shots.
And less said about Rohit Sharma the better. He is just maintaining his image of being an over-rated player!

Are PWI coming of age? I see reflections of RR team - 1st edition, though cant compare Sourav with Shane.
PWI looks stable (core foreign players not leaving for home services), Robin Uthappa "believing" in partnerships and some good disciplined bowling. Though would be interesting to see PWI against CSK and RCB in their homegrounds.

Re: The IPL Thread - Season V discussions from pg 150

So Rohit Sharma finally comes good!

Always good to watch a nail-biting finish. But how well did Steyn bowl, he was really steaming in quick & hitting speeds of 150+. And this isn't the first time Dan Christian has been involved on the losing side bowling the final over. A rookie cricketer had hit him for a six of the final bowl in the earlier IPL.

It's high time he gets rid of his acting skills in the middle. Everytime he hits a boundary or steals a run, he tends to show how much he is doing for the team !
And he tires quite easily, fitness levels are very very suspect !

Guess he's fully convinced that he not going to be a part of the Indian team, in the near future. Proof of that was the way he praised Ganguly, as the best Indian captain ever, after that loss gainst Pune.
It's absolutely foolish to take a potshot at your current boss by saying, "your predecessor was better" even if that's the truth.

Re: The IPL Thread - Season V discussions from pg 150

It was pathetic to see Munaf Patel and Bhajji argue with the umpires over Sangakara's dismissal in yesterday match vs Deccan Chargers. The way Munaf was getting animated looked like he was playing gully cricket. Even the umpires were sure of the dismissal, should have straight away referred to third umpire, instead they kept debating between themselves.

Bhajji goofed up big time when he called to take the lofted catch which was clearly Rohit Sharma's catch. Rohit as usual did not bother either to reach.

Rohit Sharma yet again proves he's one match wonder. Now he is so puffed up that I am sure he wont do anything for the next couple of matches.

Rightly said! Very unprofessional behavior from the both of them.

Having said that, in my opinion, the 3rd umpire replays must not be telecast on the big screen in the stadium.

But he is really unfit physically, he was struggling. And did anyone notice Amit Mishra ? He has a belly and has become round. At this age, these guys have started putting on the kilos in the wrong places. They will never be any good other than in IPL.

Yeah, it was really stupid for him to throw ball into the ground like that. He seems to be on a very short fuse, couple that with a skipper with an even shorter fuse, a perfect recipe for such events.

MI really did not deserve to win that match.

Yes, he was struggling a bit towards the end! He had put on lots of weight early last year when he was dropped. But he does play some memorable shots on some occasions. Sadly he promises a lot but delivers very little!

So far in the completed 10 matches in this edition, in 9 out of 10 times, captain winning toss has chosen field. While in 7 out of 10 cases, team batting 1st has won.

Re: The IPL Thread - Season V discussions from pg 150

Yesterdays matches the most fancied team CSK and RCB lost out miserably due to fantastic performance by DD and KKR.

The way CSK has been starting their innings in thei IPL edition looks like they are the least interested team. The top rung has never fired, the batting collapses and the bowling looks average. is it the fatigue that Dhoni and his men are plagued with?

Re: The IPL Thread - Season V discussions from pg 150

Only Dhoni has the right to be fatigued, maybe Ashwin a little bit.

OTOH, Chennai has known to be like this till they are under pressure and then they perform like champs. Lets wait and watch.

re: The IPL Thread (Fantasy game league details on pg 238)

Almost a week now with the IPL 2012 and not even a single century so far by any batsman. Waiting to see the first century for this season. My guess is, it will be form RCB.
