With the way IPL is run, there is really no point in thinking long term. After 3 years there there might be another reshuffle. If that was their plan anyway they should have had some kind of continuity like MI or CSK and retained players like Kallis, Steyn or Uthappa.
And who is going to lead the team? Also with the complete overhaul the loyalty of fans will be tested.

IMHO, the little franchise based loyalty that was there will be tested severely with all these changes. In any case, most of the viewers just see it as an escape from the usual crap that passes off on the idiot box otherwise - very few lose sleep if a particular team loses or wins. its only to see how players perform in short bursts of play. In short, if the highlights are available for IPL 2 and another good test series - which one would you watch?

RCB has let Rahul Dravid and Uthappa go? I wish CSK had snapped them up.

Yeah it was sad to see very few takers for Dravid, CSK would have never bid for him. Dhoni isn't the sorts who seeks (or atleast knows) technically sound players :P He would have instructed the team owners to go for a bunch of his "yes men" whom he can later pull into the national team!

I seriously miss L Modi. The way the auctions are going is pathetic. Foriegn players being snubbed left right and center. Yawning board members (Mr Amin) on live TV, happy that they will be counting away to the bank.

The legal wranglings have limited RR this time. As long as these players play in India i do not care if they dont play for my state. I support a team and not individuals.

I didn't understand this too. Uthappa would have been a better choice than Tiway at 1.6M and Dravid is any day better than Pujara.

Not able to vote for the current poll as it says i have voted earlier.Maybe because i voted for the last poll?

Anyways i believe KKR and Pune have done the best auction wins and Delhi has done a idiotic one. However only time will tell who was worth what!

re: The IPL Thread - Season V discussions from pg 150

I am also not able to vote.

I think CSK had a clear strategy and will again be a strong team. KKR also did reasonably well in their attempt to revamp.
Anyway, till the actual games start it will be a challenge to identify the players with their team. Dravid to RR, Yuvi to Pune, Gambhir to KKR etc, it's like a musical chair and unfortunately some players missed out.

re: The IPL Thread - Season V discussions from pg 150

I think CSK stuck to being too much traditional and being the same team. CSK's main weakness was the bowling, pathetic is the right word, they did not even try to address that except for retaining bollinger. I am glad they did not win Balaji.

Yes, Yuvi will be captaining pune. cricinfo confirms this!
RCB will be captained by Vettori.

Interestingly, both the highest run getter(Dilshan) and highest wicket taker(ZAK) of the ICC world cup are part of RCB
