Belated wishes guys. Brought back memories of participating in State RD parade on Brigade Parade grounds (Bangalore) as a NCC cadet. I did it two times, we had to train for a month even for the state version. BTW, I didn't qualify for the National parade since I couldn't do 6Kms in 20 minutes.

I still remember couple of incidents from this time.

1) On 26th early morning 7AM, I was cycling up the brigade road (the wrong way) along with a Army Hawaldar who was our trainer. I was in full uniform and he wasn't. No traffic was being allowed that morning, and the cop in-charge on traffic promptly stopped the Hawaldar and while waving me go ahead.

2) During the training leading up to the D-Day, we had to pickup our weapons (.303 Lee Enfield rifle) from an armory for the drill and return it everyday. So we all used to ride on M.G road up and down carrying the rifle on the back. Once I crashed into the back of a motorcycle that stopped braked suddenly in front of me. Noticing I was a teenager cyclist, he got down with full fury to teach me a lesson. When he had a full view of me, not a single word escaped his mouth, it just opened and stayed that way. And I happily carried on. Wish I could do it in these days of road rage.

You must be thinking about your days as a cub scout. We wore pants in NCC.
