Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

Last weekend tried Chole Bature in Dhanraji's Chole Bature in HSR layout (14th Main, 22nd Cross Rd, Sector 3, HSR Layout). It was easily the best chole bature I have had in Bangalore. Very flavorful. I would certainly give it 9 out of 10. They have limited menu here.

Thanks for this feedback!
Have you tried Gopaljee ? I think they have 4 outlets now including one at HSR layout.

Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

Visited Sattvam in JP Nagar the other day. Though being a weekday, it was quite crowded. The food overall was fairly reasonable- nothing on the menu really stood out. They have a lot of varieties of deserts but they aren’t really “tasty”. I’m not sure how to explain it.

Considering the price, I would say there are potentially better veg buffet places out there.

Sorry, I haven't tried Gopaljee. I don't think it's part of the Chandigarh chain though. It was featured on Food Lovers TV YouTube channel more than a year ago and now they've grown to 4 outlets, so just asked if you've been to their HSR layout outlet

Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

Back in the 80's and 90's, some of dad's friends would always mention Sri Venkateshwara sweets Balepet as "The place" for the Mysore-Pak sweet in Bangalore. They would always get us the sweet from that branch when visiting us.

We happened to be in the Chikpet area last week and somehow I had this brain wave to try and locate the iconic store. It was a 10 minute walk to Balepet and came back very happy and satisfied - heck, even their savories and Bengali sweets are awesome! After some light indulgence there, carried some sweets and savories back

I also remember seeing websites mentioning many branches in Jayanagar, etc but I guess they're namesakes/not part of the main group with the old store at Balepet. Their packaging only mentions Balepet and Malleswaram.

Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

A recent discovery in Whitefield.

There are huge waiting line for Anand Biriyani in Hosakote. Similar to that brand there is a place called Whitefield Dum Biriyani in Whitefield. They serve Biriyani (Chicken / Mutton), Soup and couple of more dishes. They are open Tuesday / Friday / Sunday and open at around 7 AM and by 9 - 10 AM they are fully sold out.

Tried this a couple of days back and quite happy with the taste and flavor. Also search on youtube, there are many food review video blogs.

Happy exploring.

Thanks for pointing it out. Had assumed the shop in Basavangudi to be part of the same group.

BTW: The dumroot in the chickpet is also very good.

Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

Went to Gatsby Bannerghatta road on Saturday around 7.30 pm, they have a pretty big parking space and it was literally empty at that time. But the security and valet parking guys forcefully stopped us and said we will have to avail the valet parking facility. They said I will be charged INR 30 per hour is I park it myself. I got completely pissed off with this attitude and drove out with a promise of never to visit the place again.

I don't have a problem in leaving the car with valet parking if it is required, but here I didn't see the need where I can park it in the same space where the valet parking guy is going to park it.

This was not my first visit and never had this issue in the past, I am not sure if this with the knowledge of the management.

Re: A Guide: Eating out in Bangalore

I went ‘again’ to ‘Gavran Misal’ at HSR. I had tried in a couple of places over the last decade and this small place turns out to be the best Misal I’ve had in years.

My wife is already thinking of a Saturday lunch there, again.
