Definitely indianized - the guy pulverizes the roast shavingsand then mixes it with finely chopped onions. While preparing the roll (now that is Indian, since the original is fluffed up pita bread), they add 2 pieces of small french fries, and 2 pieces of carrot. Couldn't figure out the flavor of the white creamy spread that was applied before putting on the chicken/onion mix.
The size of the roll is rather small - good for a snack only. |
Yep, totally indianized. I even ask the guy to put some chilli powder (which they put on Grilled Chicken) on my shawarmastupid:. I was under the impression that the white creamy spread was mayo. Is it not?

Shawarmas are best in Kebab Magic, RV Road I guess, I have had the Pita bread ones as well as the Rumali roti ones in other Kebab magic outlets but the rolls from this RV Road outlet can't be beaten. But yes the size is quite small and only is a snack. Nothing beats the size of Fanoos |
I agree, Kabab Magic is the place which got me hooked onto shawarmas. But IIRC, even he serves the rolls in Rumali roti.
I love the Fanoos rolls too. I just wish they served sharwama in Jumbo, mambo and sambo sizes:D (they serve sheek rolls in those sizes)
Didn't like the Shawarma at Savoury, even though they more closer to the original (I think) than any other Shawarma in Bangalore. Too sweet for my liking.

What a waste of time and money.Portions are measly, terribly overpriced, service is lousy.Wouldnt go back there if it was the last place in the world serving food in the midst of a famine!
when you add lousy service and horrible portion sizes to it-then its totally unpardonable. |
The rating of wood wire pizzas at big name stores like CPK are mostly bad. Don't know about their Indiranagar Store though, wouldn't be any different i guess. Thanks for the reviews , saved me time and money on wanting to visit CPK
I had wood fire pizza at a cafe on JP Nagar ring road, Cafe Pascucci. The Salads and Pizza's are extremely delicious and had fresh vegetables and were diced pretty well. The ambiance is not as good as restaurant, more like a CCD but if you are in pursuit of good wood fire pizza this place stands up to the name.
Tried out grilled chicken salad + Barbecue Chicken Pizza (with broccoli's and mushroom) , for 369 bucks for the pizza it tasted light years better than any fast food joints. The fresh veggies, meat and cheese blended very well.
VFM place 3.5/5
That should be Tahini. It is made from 'Til', has a very subtle flavour and is supposed to be a healthy food.

There is a north Karnataka jowar roti restaurant attached to the jain hospital canteen. The entry is from the road (not sure of name) opposite nation school of drama. Same road which leads to Alliance Francaise. Take a right after KFC on Cunningham road and you will find this place on your left about 200 meters down the road.

2nd floor, Kamat Bugle Rock on Bull Temple Road (NR Colony), just after BMS College of Engg., on the left. They even have Classical music kacheris (vocal, instrumental) by serious amateurs in the evenings, usually 8-10PM. VFM
Jolada rotti meals on banana leaf.
There are plenty of shops in residential colonies (like in Rajaji Nagar and Vijaynagar) which sell North Karnataka stuff like
Jolada rotti, Badanekai ennegai etc.

Nalapaka is quite good and the food is the real deal North Karnataka Stuff. Only grouse is if you plan on hitting the place on weekends the you will have to wait for quite some time to get seated.
MP
Visited Airlines Hotel, Lavelle Road. Tried out Chole Bathure, Dahi Puri, Masala Puri and also Plain Dosa. Everything tasted very good. Loved the serving of Tea in a big glass, unlike any other place in Bangalore.
Visited this place just for the experience sake. Drive-in/Open space restaurant. Highly priced I felt but worth the experience unlike the regular adda's.

Thanks a lot for this lead.
Visited this place couple of times this weekend and the food is yummy. They have a North Karnataka Thali which is priced at Rs 125 (AI) which is worth every penny.
On Saturday afternoon, this place was jam-packed with patrons wearing unusual attire. :Shockked::Shockked: Courtesy, the the third Bangalore queer film festival which was held at Alliance Francias.

Ha ha, whatta coincidence, I visited the place I think around the same time last year because I too bumped into people with "interesting" attire and make up. The price at that time was only 99 bucks. I really liked the holige which was made fresh and served with lots of hot ghee. Yumm!!
Went to couple of places in the last few days but the one that stood out for me was the Banjara/Melting Pot resturant in Prestige Center Point, Cunningham Road.
I am an old Bangalorean and I remember going to Banjara when it was at Kumarapark. It used to be very good then, but over the years it lost its place.
The new place has been done up quite well and the food is really very good. Portions are quite big as well and not very expensive. I will definately go again.
