Checked out Woodstock (Double road, Indiranagar) last weekend for dinner. Though I live near this place, never visited it before, I somehow associated the place more with the coffee shop there.. Liked most of the items we tried except the Buffalo wings which to me was a little rubbery. Liked their salt and pepper corn and the Pepper rice with Prawns Sizzler. Cost: 3k for a group of 5 , guess it was par for the course.
Seating is a little cramped, but otherwise liked the ambiance.

Can someone suggest a good Thai/Malay restaurant please (east/south bangalore)?

Check out Aroy, J P Nagar.

Good food and a choice between indoor and outdoor seating.

+1 to Aiel's input here. We have ordered home delivery from this place and the food is very good.

You could try Mugen on 100ft Road, Indiranagar. It's alright.

There was a place on the top-floor of Sigma Mall, I can't quite recall the name, but they served the best clay-pot rice in Bangalore! I absolutely loved that place. But it seems to have shut-down. Damnit, I'm racking my brains here for the name! :Frustrati

Other options would be Shiro in UB City which is EXCELLENT, but expensive.

Bamboo Shoots on Museum Road. Ginseng at the Royal Orchid hotel near Manipal Hospital/Diamond-District/KGA on Airport Road. Never tried this place though.

@ Nikhil

Would you fancy a quick-meat sometime soon. ;)

Thanks Suhaas. I have tried Mugen and Ginseng. I feel they are alright, just as you described. Somehow they are not the "Thai", I was hoping them to be. Will try the other two and the Aroy suggested by Aiel and Fauji.

Guys need urgent help please:

We have a team outing planned and I want to take the guys to TorQ karting track before heading for dinner. Is there any good place around Marathahalli for buffet dinner? INR600-700/person w/o drinks.

I think the place you are referring to is Moti Mahal. As far as I know, its a Delhi based chain serving north Indian non veg food, something like Sikandar or Copper Chimney.

Nope, that's not it. It was Thai restaurant, not a North Indian one. I've been to Moti Mahal in Lido Mall. :)

Is clay pot rice a Thai dish? Apologies for ignorance, but it sounded like some cousin of dum biryani served in a sealed cay pot :D

Lol! Yup you could say that! :D

It's a South East Asian dish.

We Indians have our own version of clay-pot rice, and it's called 'dum-biryani' :D

Jokes apart, clay-pot rice and dum-biryani have their similarities in terms of the process of cooking, I believe. The meat in the clay-pot is not thoroughly mixed, and the flavours of the chicken/prawn/mushroom etc are let to soak through the rice, along with the flavour of the pot that it is cooked in. Oh, my mouth is watering as I type this out. *drool*

Sweet man :D I also find the entire process of slow (or dum style) cooking to be fascinating. It s blend of the eatable objects inside the pot, as well as the flavour of the smoked clay itself (to a minor extent of course). Pretty awesome.

I used to love that place. Don't know why it didnt do well. Its quite famous in other Indian cities though :(

I had been to Coastal Junction @ Indira Nagar yesterday for lunch and ordered the following (SILVERWOOD+2)

Nitha Kori aka Chicken Ghee Roast:This was a disaster, too much of ghee.
Goan Fish Roast:This was awesome and very spicy.
Mutton Stew:Very average dish but the mutton was very tender
Appam & Malabar Paratha-Business as usual.
Coke-4 No's.

The tariff is on the higher side for this setup.

Total Damages:Rs 1100 with 15% discount on HDFC CC.

Will i go back to this place-NO

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had been to Fish & Spice @ Coles Road,Frazer Town for dinner last evening & ordered the following.(SILVERWOOD+1)

Pomfret Masala Fry:Absolutely delectable, Loved it lots.
Daal Kolhapuri:Very good
Butter Naan:Very bad, i don't understand how could a restaurant screw up something basic as butter naan.
Jeera Rice:Very good.

Total Damages-Rs 600 with 10% discount.

Total VFM restaurant, will go back again for the awesome Pomfret.
