Re: Packers & Movers: Post all queries here

I am planning to shift my Vitara Brezza from Gurgaon to Bhubaneswar sometime in April 2021. Would be grateful for any recommendations on reliable packers and movers? Thank you

APML. Eyes closed. Got my i20 from Noida to Kolkata very very quickly. Door to door delivery in 5 days flat. They charged me 20k.

Reliable car courier services in India

Amongst the numerous things the pandemic has brought upon us, uncertainty is the primary takeaway surrounding everything. Be it with the entire cultural shift of working from home, diminishing the gap between one's professional and personal lives, to deciding whether to stay at one's current place or go back to the natives (to ensure the safety of one's family).

I too faced a similar situation given the exponential rise in cases Mumbai (and Maharashtra) has been experiencing. After observing for a few days, the decision was made instantly. We booked a flight 4 hours before departure, and made our way back to Kharagpur (where my parents stay).

Now with the announcement of Junta Curfew in Maharashtra and the cases still increasing at an alarming rate, I don't think that we can go back any time soon. However, in the haste of coming back, I did leave my car back in Mumbai and how dearly I miss her now! Given an opportunity, I would like to bring her back immediately.

Hence my question and I would request guidance from the esteemed members. Car courier seems to be the only option now. However, I am not much confident about the entire process and hence would like to understand from anyone who had taken similar services before.
  1. Which are some of the reliable options when it comes to transportation of cars?
  2. Is car transport advisable? Are there any chances of theft associated with such services?
  3. I also have concerns about scratches and dents which may arise during the transportation. Do these companies take proper care while transporting the cars?
  4. Approximate cost associated with such services.

The thread mentioned earlier should have detailed info but here's some from personal experience.

We used Agarwal.

Theft, no. But there is indeed a discomfortingly high likelihood of some damage/misuse/abuse during transit. This typically happens during loading/unloading from the truck or when they drive your car to/from your house to the fleet yard (which often is fairly far from the main city).

If you absolutely must have the car and can't drive down (understandable in these uncertain times), it may be well worth the risk.

15-20k ish, I'd imagine. Also, be wary of low-ballers, they'll drive your car down, not transport it.

Re: Reliable car courier services in India

This is not a good situation to be in. You are not physically present and the car inspection will not be done well. Chances are you will see a lot of damage to the car and the courier will just wash their hands off without taking any responsibility. I would suggest to see if anyone in your friends circle wants to travel somewhere near to where you are staying. They can come in your car and you can take it by travelling a little.

I need to urgently move my bike from Bangalore to Sagar (M.P.). Any reliable contacts of movers and packers?
Between Gati and VRL, any preferences and reviews.
Need to get this done by this Thursday (8th July), so some reference will be highly appreciated.

Enquire with friends in Kharagpur for a reliable driver. It may even be someone's regular driver who is not very engaged currently. Send him to BBY, and ask him to drive it down. You would need to send an authorization letter with the driver.

You can also ask him to enable google tracking so you can monitor the speeds he is doing.

Do check this option. If you opt for it, then please tell him that he has to take required precautions against covid infection.

Re: Packers & Movers: Post all queries here

Out of Agarwalpacker.com(APML) and agarwalpackers.in(DRS) which is the original one? Are both of them good and are offshoot of same company or one is copy of another? Is it good idea to use them for local shifting?
Do they even do local shifting? Any other packer with a good reputation and who does local shifting in hyderabad? I am keen about good packing and then later on unpack things up at my own pace. Typically low cost local shifters put items in open cartons and dump at the destinations and some times they insist on taking back the cartons. I want to avoid that kind of an experience or any cheap tricks.

I have sent a bike from MP to Tamil Nadu using SafeExpress twice previously. That was about 18 yrs back. I had to drop the packed bike at their office and pick it up from their office at destination. They did a decent job.
Also sent through train twice. Process is easier and one doesn't have to worry about packing etc as one would find them near the parcel booking office but there is no quality or accountability in the service. Something or the other always breaks and would take its own time. But it can transport to remotest places.

Re: Packers & Movers: Post all queries here

I am planning to shift from Chennai to Anantapur and I want to shift 2 BHK worth of household stuff. Sofa, dining table, 2 cots, washing machine, ac, kitchen stuff, couple of study tables and a scooter.

I would highly appreciate some suggestions regarding packers and movers.

Some quotes on here are making me think if it's better to sell off everything here and buy new ones. But nonetheless, I need the services of packers at least to shift personal belongings.

Re: Packers & Movers: Post all queries here

Good day.

Requesting inputs from fellow members for moving household items from Kandivali West to Bhayander West.

Dining table, double bed, wardrobe, a sofa cum bed are the big items, then some utensils.

No fridge, no TV.

Planning during 2nd week of October.

This is for a female Banker who doesn't have much help coming her way till the day before her shifting, so, reliability is very important as there is no one to haggle with these guys.

Thanks in advance.

Request a BHPian who has sold household stuff online to please share their experiences. How effective are OLX/quickr as I keep reading about scams.

Anybody used FB marketplace?

Thanks

I am trying to sell a few furniture on OLX from the past month and as you rightly read, there are a lot of scams here. I keep getting calls or chats from scrap dealers or second hand furniture dealers with really low price, so low that I can just give it away free instead. There are also scammers stating that they will transfer the amount even without seeing the furniture physically and send someone to pick up. I have been insisting buyers to physically check the furniture and make a deal. I have been unsuccessful so far.

Back to the Packers & Movers topic, does anyone have experience with using Porter app for shifting in Bangalore? I am shifting from my current apartment to another less than a KM apart and looking for recommendations.
