RIP Ustaad Zakir Hussain

I had the good fortune of watching "shakti" perform live at Chennai in 2008/9. What an experience it was to see him performing the jugalbandi with Sivamani! Truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He was a gentleman to boot who was deeply passionate about the instrument. I still remember the father and son duet in the 'Des Raag' anthem that was so common on TV those days besides of course the ubiquitous Wah Taj Ad!

Truly an icon transcending generations
