A simple question that has a few answers for me.

1. If driving to office - leave it in the cubby hole as it's easier for the office valet to pick up and park. Wallet and home keys to in the bag. I hate driving with them in my pockets.

2. If driving alone - tag it to belt loops.

3. If driving with partner - goes to the cubby hole as we keep switching the driver seat every 200 kms. Hate how the car reminds be I left them back if I exit with the keys in my pocket in between trips.

4. Rare occasion when I take the rear seat and let's my brother drive - in his pocket. He's responsible for anything with the car.

Both our cars have the traditional slot for ignition, so voted for Option 4 lol:

Pants are the best place to keep the keys for keyless entry. Just make sure you give the keys in case someone else is driving the car - many times, i have forgotten to give the keys to valet.

Love the Kodiaq for its nifty key carrying cubby hole.

99% of the time, the key to my Compass stays in my trouser pocket. I don't have anything attached to the keys although Jeep gave a wonderful chrome based keychain. If I give it to the valet for parking, they end up leaving the key in the centre console when the return the vehicle. Only then does it leave my pocket

Although this is not a thread for wallet/mobile, someone talked about bulky pockets and therefore here goes.
For the mobile and wallet, I have a Spigen wallet which can attach itself to the magnets on the iPhone. So both stay together out of my pocket when driving and mostly they stay in my hand while outside the vehicle. Only in crowded spaces do they go into the pockets. I don't like bulky wallets and mostly have 2/3 cards and couple of notes thanks to UPI

Anothe way for me to embrace minimalism !!!

The Octavia has a rubberised key slot near the EPB switch which is useful (just ignore that pile of junk food)

But if I am driving I prefer to clip the carabiner to my belt hoop with the key nestled in the back pocket.

I usually keep the key fob in the cubby hole under the center arm rest in my Safari. Works best for me! So far, I have never walked out of the car forgetting the key fob.

I prefer to keep my pockets empty while driving, so I always put the keys in the door handle once I sit. Also helps when i have to give the car to Valet as sometimes if it is in my pockets I tend to walk away without giving it.

In the absence of options like “Others” or “In the cup holder” in this poll, I had to choose “In one of the cubby holes”!

In reality, I use one of the cup holders in my Harrier. I don’t like to keep it in the wireless charger cubby hole or inside the arm rest console box.

Unless I'm not the one driving, they're always in my pocket.

My current car has keyless entry and pushbutton start/stop. So the key fob is always in my trouser pocket. I don't keep it anywhere else as I have the habit of walking away thinking the key is in my pocket.

Few of the my cars in US had a dedicated key holder plus charger. So I used to plug them in the dedicated holder and never used to keep it in the pocket while driving. Nissan Ultima and Maxima had some good features.

Daily Drives - One of the cubby holes.

Long Drives/Multi-day drive - 1st key - One of the cubby holes.
2nd key- In my wife's purse/bagvati.

Always in my pant pocket! Or to be precise, on the driver's self.

By keeping it on my self, I wont be forgetting it in the car in case I exit the car for an emergency stop. Therefore, no one can simply jump-in and drive away with the car and whatever/whoever is inside the car.
I put the key fob in my pocket when I exit the house and it stays in there, until I re-enter my abode. Next to zero chances of misplacing it anywhere.

My wife, on the other hand, keeps it in her purse/handbag all along. And, though I am not perfectly ok with that, since she hasn't lost her purse/handbag in 15 years of being together, I let her be. :)

Also, our cars that have keyless Start-Stop feature are not handed over to drivers, valets. Only the family beater cars, which as of now are all key-cranked, are driven by people other than me or my wife.

Voted "In Pant Pocket"

This was for a majority of the time when I would be driving. When I would walk out of the car (with family members inside the car), I would leave the key in the cubby hole. Once I'm back I would continue driving with the key remaining in the cubby hole!

Pocket for city drives. Middle console for highway drives.

Since the key is smart, you know you won't get locked out.
