What you say is true, especially during boom time for the real estate market (like the past few years), very hard to show any loss - unless they are under quoting the prices
But, if the market goes sideways like the 2009-2013, then the returns, adjusted to inflation would probably end up in losses [broad strokes here, there will be exceptions/variations].
Just because evasion is pervasive, they bring in a rule that is grossly unfair to people who are having genuine losses.
One would have hoped they applied more thought BEFORE bringing in such rules. |
