No one understands the logic behind my handle.

I have to explain it always, its like a comedian having to explain his joke.

Also, with EVs coming, this handle will be obsolete soon!!!

I started my social media journey with USENET 30+ years ago, using a software called rn. In those days, your email was your identity. There were no free emails, you had to either get one from companies like AOL, or get it from your employers or university. And every USENET post would display the email ID and name of the poster. Of course, there was a Swedish company that provided a double blind email server, using which people could post anonymously.

At USENET we quickly learned the perils of using a real name and email ID. The various forums like soc.culture.india and others could get really toxic while discussing certain topics, and people sometimes faced consequences at their workplaces. Offhandedly made comments from years ago could be bumped up as fresh, this had never happened before.

When social media moved over to the web format in the late 90s, the concept of online handle became available. Finally, people could get full anonymity if they wanted.

Due to this background, I got used to picking handles. While joining TeamBHP, I chose my handle carefully, so I don't feel the need to change it at all.

I misunderstood the username section as full name, I thought it will be visible to the officials only, but after becoming the member I came to know that people have unique usernames and dont have personal names.
There should be a term that you can change your username within 6 months of your membership approval or you can change once in lifetime after becoming a member.
Please Mods add a caution or suggestion on the registration page that "Username Can't Be Changed later" so future members can be aware

I voted No! I am using my name as a Handle across all forums. There was an idea of shortening Justin Das to JD but it's being used so I decided against it.

Yes. I would like to have a different username.

I kept this as my username for Minecraft and like it there. It feels too juvenile for Team-BHP.

Would prefer to have something more normal here. I have noticed that my favourite Youtubers usually have an adjective followed by an object, small sentences, there name or a made up word. "rocketpoweredmohawk" "stuff made here" "upir" "dank pods"

maybe I would choose a car name like "1993renaulttwingo" "2005santro-xing" "fiatmultipla" "fiatritmo" "fiat126p"

Chose my handle in a rush of exhilaration at getting T-BHP application getting approved after 2-3 failed trials, plus was doing it from office way back in 2014 hence wanted to get it done asap!

Would like to change the handle to something that rings true to my automotive interests.

Hope T-BHP introduces that as an option in near future, just like X/Twitter does.

Voted no, I like this handle + the profile picture I was able to find (the G-Force meter of an Audi R8). Plus it does describe me well, for I love rollercoasters, go-karting, airplane take-off rolls and windy roads.

I think individuals are known by their T-BHP handle over a period of time and, like someone mentioned, if given an option to change, will create a lot of confusions. I had failed the entry to T-BHP 2-3 times and by the time I actually got the entry I had come up with a decent handle name. I am a sucker for BHP, we may not use all of them on the roads we have in India, but it's just satisfying to have a ride with extra BHP and that's what my handle is!

I liked this id when I came up with it for the forum so many years ago.

Did not realize that most would however read it as Black Berry Lost.

Thankfully that company shut down and my small cribbing on the user name being misunderstood went away.

Quickly checked to see if it could be changed. Alas, it was not to be and I was forever christened ashwin.terminat.

Same story as others, i was in such rush that i completely ignored the username and just entered my name. Would really prefer if at least 1 attempt to change is allowed. Voted Yes.

Checking your signature (& cars you have owned), you must be having the will power of God to keep the RPMs limited to 2000

Coming to my username- no I wasn't born in 1977. Just that 7 is kind of lucky charm for me. Guess that made me crack through the TBHP 'recruitment' process as well.

Will vote no for username change as it our identity on the forum. If someone changes their name, they also loose their historical credibility. Heck, even if someone changes their avatar pic, I get confused!

Voted yes - Did not realize having my name as the user ID would cause issues down the line back in 2008

Would definitely like a one time option to change it.
