Every individual needs a passport - child or infant. In the absence of a passport it will make life much easier for international child traffickers, for example. In case of children the police verfication process is waived off but a thorough scrutiny of the parents antecedents and their passports is done before the passport is issued.

re: Queries & Issues with Indian Embassies abroad

no other go while abroad. Simply go to the Indian Embassy and put the facts forward. Obviously they are bound to help!

So next working day (Monday) he went to the Indian consulate in NY and was given a new passport on the same day itself. So I would agree with Vijay's advice & ask your sister to go to the Indian consulate on the first day possible.

But you are responding to about 2.5 yr old post. The person definitely would have come to India by now.

Delay in dispatching Passport by the Indian Embassy in the US

Hello Everyone,

My brother who is staying in the US had applied for a Canadian Visa. After the completion of all the VISA procedures, he had submitted the passport for VISA purpose to the Indian Embassy sometime towards the end of May. However, until date, he has received no update. Neither on Visa nor on Passport.

He wanted to visit Canada for a conference which is scheduled next week and that seems all but impossible. More importantly, he has a flight scheduled for India in Mid July. Request your inputs as to what should be the next course of action.

Thanks.
