Rinku is not a part of the team.

My view is a bit different, drop Jadeja/Axar and get Chahal, play a specialist spinner we all have seen what Kuldeep can do, both bowling in tandem can get us wickets and keep scoring in check.

True, Rinku is not part of the squad. My bad.

In that case, Jaiswal fits better (than Samson) as a pure batsman, IF Dube bowls.
Else, continue with the current squad. We definitely need 6 bowling options.
Not having Rinku (explosive batter plus bowler) in the squad was plain stupid.

You must be kidding about dropping Axar. He has been absolutely brilliant all tournament. I won't even drop Jadeja now. Or even Dube. This is no time to bring a new player in playing 11. No match practice and directly into a pressure semi final. Nope. Play with the same 11. Let it be.

As I type this Afghanistan is 23/5. Absolutely demolished. Guess the dream looks over for them.
28/6 now.

Re: 2024 T20 World Cup Thread

Afghanistan is in trouble.

Afghanistan 56 all out

First time a team has been bowled out for less than 100 in a men’s semifinal at a T20 World Cup.

It’s also Afghanistan’s lowest T20 score, and it’s the lowest total by any team against South Africa.

I just put Axar there if management does not want to remove Jadeja for some reason. Ideally it should be Jadeja and dube both going out of the team. Dube has been extremely average and has not justified the role he was given one bit. This is England we are going to play, the defending champions and one of the most experienced line up from IPL. That said we all know we will play same team, which is ok, but not optimal. Kohli has been a disaster as opener and he should ideally play at 3 which has been his favorite spot, Jaiswal should open and Dube should warm the bench.

Afghanistan played great cricket to get to semi final, they should be proud of what they achieved. SA gets tonplay first ever ICC final, and this time they have not choked in pressure games, so they have the best shot of lifting the first ever ICC title, let's see who they face.

Wow, woke up to watch the game and it is already over. That was absolute demolition by South Africa and well deserved chance at winning the trophy.

True.
I hope now the big four.
India, Australia, England and SA play more with them especially SENA countries invite them on tours. They can only get better by playing with better teams.

All Guyana reports aren't looking good as of now. I hope match happens. Don't want a walkover to final. Should be by eliminating England. That will be fun.

He's the limit 9 runs as an opener? Jaiswal would have been a better bet.

Re: 2024 T20 World Cup Thread

VIRAT has played like Chahal whole tournament. Don't know what's wrong with him.

65/1 in 8 overs is decent start on this pitch. Pant too played atrocious shot. Hopefully Rohit and SKY carry on when Match resumes. Losing toss wasn't good as chasing is beneficial in these conditions.

Kohli's batting has had no rhythm. He's trying to be an enforcer which he's not. The template set out is to take advantage of the field restriction. If he had batted normally he would have gotten some runs.

Wouldn't have made any difference as Rohit himself said that they were looking to bat first! Pitch isn't easy & with these frequent rain breaks, 160 seems to be a par score but India would want 175 atleast I feel.

Dube fails, Kohli fails, Jadeja please atleast you prove us wrong. This dube was such a wrong pick over Rinku.

Re: 2024 T20 World Cup Thread

Absolute clinical performance, well done Team India. For finals please drop Dube and get Jaiswal, let's not carry two non performers like ODI world cup. Kohli can also perform better at number 3.

Going to be a cracker of a match, we have been choking for sometime in ICC tournament while it is first ever WC final for SA. I hope it's a close match and India comes on top in the end.

Battle of two undefeated teams in World Cup final, whoever lifts the cup is well deserving.
