want a Haflinger!

Friends, I have been wanting to own a Halflinger for a Very Very long time, 20 years!!. Does anyone know where i could get one.
They were the ones that came in from Puch of Austria in the '60s chinese agression times. Had also seen some in auctions in the '70s, but was too late by when i could afford to buy one! they are around, though not in very good state. Wish we could import!! there are clubs dedicated to them.
Please Help Me.

Hey hey scooby, you want the whole car or just half of it? lol

I think its a Haflinger. The only reason I stopped by this thread, is because a friend of ours in college had one. In fact there was a rather hilarious story of how his spring from under the wheel came flying out at Bandstand, Bandra while he took a sharp turn, lol.

Good luck with your quest.

Well I will check with him if he still has it. He's in the UK right now though, so we'll have to wait till he returns.

Lucky you Scooby. Speedy and Ishan have found two Haflingers in Delhi itself.
Just a little word about Haflingers;
Built in Austria from 1958 to 1976 by Steyr Daimler Puch, the Haflinger was,
one of the most accomplished of all off-roaders, a small and light 4WD. Whilst all other 4WDs were big and heavy, The Haflinger took the other track, making it as light as possible. Powered by a 40 bhp, 700cc air-cooled 2-cylinder engine mounted in the rear, the drive went to two or four wheels with diff locks front and rear, and it rode on all-independent suspension.
They were small sized and had a short wheel-base and it could scale muddy inclines and leap across humpy terrain at a pace that could leave most other 4x4s floundering. Unfortunately, while it was a very capable off-roader, it was less endearing on the highway and was fairly expensive, thus it never sold in large numbers. Approximately about 16,000 were built.

Dear Ishan and Speedy, Yes I want One for Sure, Please help me out!!
But you also Know I prefer a very clean and original one, Please.
Had bought one in 1979 Delhi STC, non working, and after 6 months sold it off, since didnt have the time to spend in delhi to work on the engine, to get her started

On of my far away cousins has one and have driven it, and its an Adventure to drive one around.
The engine is at the back yes and 4 people could lift it and carry it around!!

The engine is below the drivers seat!! if I remember!
No, the Haflinger is a small, 4x4 with Maruti 800 like 12-inch wheels and a 646 cc motorcycle type twin horizontally opposed air-cooled engine developing under 30 bhp, mounted at the rear (not under the driver's seat).

Imagine an ultralight 500-600 kg 4x4 that can carry a payload of another 500-600 kg.
