Re: Experiencing Digiyatra | A Mixed Bag

I had to take an early flight out of Hyderabad this morning. I reached the airport at 4:45 am having completed check-in online and with just a cabin bag in hand. By 4:52 am I was at the gate, having been able to skip the lines thanks to Digiyatra. Considering that the seven minutes timeframe included the time it took for me to walk from the car at the departure ramp to the airport entrance, I feel it was a pretty great (and quick) experience overall.

Got a chance to experience this at Delhi airport last week. Was a seamless experience for me.

Re: Experiencing Digiyatra | A Mixed Bag

My personal experience with Digiyatra has been great, however I cannot pardon them for the clumsy, confusing 'switch' to a similar yet different app. They did the biggest disservice to non-tech savvy users (senior citizen parents for example) where someone had installed and onboarded the users, only to have it go poof! The official response to cover their blunder (of having to actually switch apps) citing 'upgrades' and 'user experience' is nothing but an insult to intelligence.

Come out with an admission and you might get my respect along with my usage!

Re: Experiencing Digiyatra | A Mixed Bag

At Bengaluru airport, I have noticed that the security check lines are way longer for the DigiYatra guys.
The ones with DigiYatra might get in faster but get stuck at the security check because the physical security checks cannot match the inflow of the much faster DigiYatra counters

Could be a Bangalore thing or a morning thing
But I always check the queues on both counters now.

Re: Experiencing Digiyatra | A Mixed Bag

I got to experience in T3, Delhi earlier this month. It was quite a smooth & fast process i must say via Digiyatra. Got to skip the line at the entry gate, as well as security check-in which otherwise could have easily be an hour long process at least.

Though they had one exclusive section on the boarding gate too, but the airline staff said that's yet to be functional.

Re: Experiencing Digiyatra | A Mixed Bag

Been travelling between Pun-Chennai every other week since 2022 post covid and sometimes banglore Hyderabad. Except for chennai Digiyatra is a boon. At chennai system is still in works. Have been just 90 minutes before departure at the airport on many occasions and still was done with all clearance under 15mins.

My only grievance has been at Pune where they resort to manual checking only during crowded nights, where it takes more than 2 hrs before you clear everything.( Diwali weekemds, holi week, aug 15 long weekend etc) This totally defeats the purpose of the system and when asked, we were told it is closed for security reason. Not you get wonder quiet was the system for in the first place.

Re: Experiencing Digiyatra | A Mixed Bag

Registered on digi yatra yesterday for my flight today for Mumbai to Diu. Alliance air operates from T1 at Mumbai airport and digi yatra is not yet operational. It took ~15mins at the gate just to get in due to long queues. I did see the boards everywhere stating Digi Yatra would be operational soon.

Registration on the Digi Yatra app was smooth. Uploaded the boarding pass pdf and it was done.

Re: Experiencing Digiyatra | A Mixed Bag

Been using digiyatra wherever possible and it's been good to bypass queues at the entrance and at security check.

Worked like a charm at Delhi airport the last three times I visited but in Bengaluru it was horror.

There is a huge screen in front that asks you to look at the camera and a security officer who sits behind asking you to tilt twist shake and what not.

The problem is he can see me in his screen but I can't see myself in the screen facing me! Only a 3d model!

Passengers behind me started getting irritated but just then it worked.

Sigh.

Also I can't help but think this will be made mandatory soon.

Off-topic: When will we cut down on the sheer number of times we need to show our boarding pass! Security check, show/scan and enter. Boarding gate show/scan, In the walkway one more show/scan and in front of the airplane door again show/scan. Such redundancy.

Re: Experiencing Digiyatra | A Mixed Bag

Used new digiyatra app and had pretty seamless experience at BLR airport T1 during my recent travels. I didn't even need to take out my phone or boarding pass at any of the digiyatra kiosks for scan. Face recognition worked well!

Looking forward to similar experience at international departures at T2 when they roll out digiyatra for international travelers.

Re: Experiencing Digiyatra | A Mixed Bag

I had a flight from BLR T2 last week at 6:30PM and boarding closes at 6:10 PM. I usually plan to be at airport atleast 1 hr before the departure. But this time I reached airport at 5:52PM and there were long queues at the entrance.
Walked straight to the digiyatra entrance with empty queues and almost empty digiyatra security. I reached gate D9 in 9 min from stepping down cab to gate. Without digiyatra I am sure I would have missed the flight.

Lucky you did not have check-in luggage

Also, which airline did you fly with? Per Indigo definition, boarding gates close 25 minutes before departure.
