INDEA has been established in collaboration with an XLRI alumnus and Avik Chattopadhyay, an automotive industry professional. It will be operational by the end of 2025.

The Masters in Automobile Design and Management will be a 1-year postgraduate course for students who have a bachelor’s degree in engineering. The curriculum will include workshops, project reviews, industry interactions, global networking and overseas project opportunities. 20-25 students will be selected via a screening process each year.

INDEA will also offer refresher courses for practising designers, inductions and opportunities for professionals. The institute also plans to launch a course in Automobile Restoration in the future.

This is quite interesting, was pondering on few points -
  1. What bachelors engineering degree are they referring to here. Does it have to be related to automotive - like mechanical engineering or other streams folks are also allowed.
  2. Is this going to be more like a management degree or more hands on technical education path ? If its like an MBA, how will non mechanical engineering folks supposed to take up this path.
