Re: Buying from Facebook or OLX, money transferred, seller ghosted | What are the legal options?

Please always report such cases to cybercrime cell through their toll free number 1930. This needs to be done immediately after you realise that you have become a victim of any fraud.
Before the fraudster channelise the funds and create new layers, crime branch may help you in holding some fund in any of the layers. You may also lodge it in below URL.

Reading this thread it looks like both FB Marketplace and OLX have attained the brilliant state of reputation once exclusively enjoyed by Craigslist. Better stick with the known and trusted marketplaces and / or websites.

Last week it happened again, this time I paid the money for some spares but it was never shipped. I not sure if police case is the best option, looking for suggestions.

Re: Buying from Facebook or OLX, money transferred, seller ghosted | What are the legal options?

Probably scammed by an online seller

I bought a 1:12 Suzuki Jimny from an online seller showing their products on Facebook reels.

Visit at your own discretion. The product is very attractive but the seller seems a scammer so far.
https://kidschoice.in/products/1-12-...ie-cast-rc-car

As per description, it was a heavily discounted RC car being sold at a paltry Rs460/- (MRP of Rs3299/-). It has working lights, indicators, stop lamp, engine has a few power cables for the FWD motor I guess. Even the front seat can be reclined to allow passengers to enter the rear seats. I stop the kind inside me here.

Surprise: Upon checking the web, this particular car is sold for Rs15,000-25,000/- so no way it will be sold at Rs460/-. This is not those simple model cars with working lights and openable doors etc. available on amazon/Flipkart for less than a 1000 bucks. This one has a good craftsmanship and attention to detail.

As I was traveling, I did not recon the website's about us or contact us section and directly purchased the product. There is no option of COD so had to pay using UPI, net banking or cards.

I paid using a credit card but I ensured that I use my alternate number not linked to any bank account etc., and added the delivery address of my work place.

The payment was made via the PhonePe gateway used by the merchant that further redirected to the centinelapi[dot]cardinalcommerce[dot]com.

The payment was completed but so far I have not received any order related info or shipment info after almost working 2 days. The website states that they have a fast 7 days shipping.

Did I accidentally gave away my credit card information to a scammer? Lets see and I hope this will not be the case. I have always kept various options under the International transactions turned off for safety reasons.

Take home message: Avoid these small websites selling stuff online.

One is the helmet issue.

The other one is partially supplied order. This has happened twice.
I ordered 2 pieces of a particular item and received only 1. Amazon agrees to ship the missing product. When it arrives the instruction to the delivery guy is to pick up the old order and give the new parcel which contains 1 piece.
They can do the folllowing easy things but won't:
- Option 1: Buyer keeps the original parcel (with 1 piece of the ordered item) and they ship another parcel (with 1 piece of the ordered item).
- Option 2: Buyer keeps the original parcel (with 1 piece of the ordered item) and they refund the cost of the missing item.
- Option 3: They ship a new parcel with the 2 ordered items and take back the original parcel with 1 item.

But they choose to complicate it and harass the buyer.

Sorry if my post is off-topic but I this this is also a scam people need to be aware of.
