re: My Weight Loss Transformation with Herbalife | Safe or Harmful?

Sir, Since you've lost a lot of bulk, now its time to focus on a balanced diet and good old cardio regime to gain muscle mass and cut the body fat. Any more continuation of calorie deficit diet shake plan will not help in muscle gain, protein will get converted and stored as body fat. workouts and light cardio will be beneficial now.

Re: My Weight Loss Transformation with Herbalife | Safe or Harmful?

Sir, Congratulations on sticking to the routine with strong discipline.

First, you have acknowledged the problem, accepted that it needed to be worked upon, and then took the right steps with the doctor consultations, then you have logically selected what worked for you and then you finally did it with your hard work and sincerity.

Finally, you have shown the courage to share the right thing on the forum, so that it will serve for the greater good of the people looking for similar solutions.

One thing I learned from this thread is to start sharing the story, so it can benefit others.

Hats off sir!!

Re: My Weight Loss Transformation with Herbalife | Safe or Harmful?

A known friend of mine started Herbalife to reduce his weight. He was suggested to skip breakfast and only drink herbalife supplement. He lost a lot of weight in a few months. Eventually he stopped following the diet once he achieved his desired weight. Now, he has gained more weight than what he originally was. Request you to be careful with these temporary diets. Only proper exercise and natural food can be followed for long term. Still, I would like to appreciate for your dedication. It's not easy to lose weight in whatever way it may be. Lose so much weight is no easy task. Just don't stop your new healthy lifestyle once you stop taking herbalife supplement.

That's a very inspiring journey sir. I think you are in safe hands with all the help and advice available. I am in my mid 30s and I would only suggest that you try adding millets to your daily diet. I have been consuming only millets (no rice, wheat, sugar, dairy - with the exception of butter milk) and the results are fantastic. Full day energy with zero fatigue or tiresomeness. Good luck!

Reading this thread was equal parts terrifying and gladdening! Many congrats on successfully turning the corner - and infact having the determination to carry through!

I second this. Intermittent fasting is very effective - and if you club this with judicious eating and "brisk" walking, it is a very very potent combination.

One thing that you have not mentioned - is the pace at which you walk. If you do brisk walk (say 4 km in 30-35mins), that in itself is the best way to reduce weight. there is nothing better to reduce weight than Brisk Walk.

Once again - Congrats! and wishing many more milestones in your weight loss (and back to healthly life) journey

Re: My Weight Loss Transformation with Herbalife | Safe or Harmful?

Very commendable journey deehunk!

I am also on a weight loss journey and below is what I do.
  • Completely stopped the habit of snacking in between main meals, especially things like cookies and cakes etc.
  • Dinner around 6 PM.
  • Once serve per meals - what ever it be. If I feel like I need 5 Chapatis, I eat them - but then I make sure that I serve myself 5 in one short and finish it. No replenishments for any of the meals.
  • Daily walk: 3.5 kms or about 10k steps.
  • Less dining out and more dining at home.

I started at 93Kgs a few months ago, I am at 81.x now. Need to lose a bit more before stabilizing.

Is hypothalamic obesity the reason you felt so tired in the US? Is this an age-related issue, and what was your age when you first started getting these symptoms?
This was the symptom of a Colloidal cyst(benign tumor) in the center of my brain, it was about 1.5 cm in size in the center of the brain obstructing the flow of cerebral spinal fluid. Brain tumors are not related to age but as I have heard from Doctors, it is by birth and like 5 to 10 per 100,000 per studies in India. It is very likely to be neglected as a common headache and often people get to know it at the last stage. While my neurosurgeon ruled out hypothalamic obesity post-neurosurgery, the endocrinologist related the damage of brain tissue to metabolism failure which in turn was the cause of obesity. In my case, there was no conclusive evidence to relate my weight gain from 2015 to my lifestyle or eating disorders. I was prescribed a medication of 2 tablets of Reshape(60mg) after my lunch and dinner for one month, later increased to a dosage of 120mg as there were no improvements. I shared my reports without any second thoughts to let people know what I did to find the root cause of obesity between 2015 to 2023.

Thank you. Key things for any person to be healthy are to reduce carbohydrate intake, avoid sugar, maida, and white rice, and eat less outside. What I learned during this journey was that we keep milestones and targets for everything in life but do not concentrate on the food we consume daily. I am thankful to my wife, who managed everything for one year. Unless this lifestyle does not become a habit for the rest of my life, I again have the risk of ruining my health. Whether we join a gym or follow any weight-loss program, it is important to have the best coach. The amount of weight loss per week has reduced now as compared to the initial days. I have to put lot of effort now to shed even 2 kilos per week, but I am confident enough to reach my ideal weight of 70 kilos by April 2024.

Re: My Weight Loss Transformation with Herbalife | Safe or Harmful?

I have been on a weight loss journey too.

Total weight loss - 45.5 Kgs [Last 35.5 Kgs in Jul 22 - Aug 23]

The thing that motivated me was a peculiar comment by a general physician back when my mother was admitted for a surgery and the constant reduction in my waist size - a supplementary quantitative measure other then the weight of course!

The doc said, "If you can't take out 45 minutes a day for your body, you better get rid of it".

I weighed as high as 125 Kgs during COVID - Less funny and a bit embarrassing, my weighing scale could only measure upto 120 Kgs.

Fast forward to Feb 2022 when my mother was admitted, my weight must've been around 120 Kgs.

I came back to my workplace, Gurugram, started with an even paced 45 minutes walk on a daily basis in March 2022, mixed with a few bodyweight exercises on swings in the park.

Weight in Apr 22 - 114.9 kgs.

July 22 - Joined Full time MBA course.

1. Started going to gym on regular basis from week 2
2. Aug 22 - Felt like I was overeating and started concluding my intake by lunch only.
3. Sep 22 - 110 Kgs
4. Started with Calorie counting, Intermittent fasting plus regular workout
[Cardio - 30 minutes + Strength training - 1 Hour]
5. Jan 22 - 98 Kgs
6. Apr 22 - 95 Kgs
7. June 22 - 85 Kgs [Internship, Lots of regular walk sessions along with strict diet helped a lot]
8. Nov 22 - 79.5 Kgs
9. Still pursuing my target weight of 76 Kgs and everywhere I go - I've been frowned upon - for the drastic transformation in the last year - Boosted my confidence a lot.

This wasn't easy but, the only help came from being consistent and keeping a tab on my calories.

I don't see why anyone would frown upon the discipline and consistency it takes to achieve what you have.. Perhaps they're envious!
Amazing transformation though.. You look like a completely different person!

Fantastic mate. Keep eating healthy, never let go of that even if you reduce your workouts.

I'd go as far as saying that's a very desi thing. For some reason, people think it's due to an illness one lost weight - even if it was a very healthy weight loss.

Well, I meant more in a positive sense because I've been a plus size for quite long.
Its only during the last year that I've reduced my weight considerably.

Thanks a lot!

I'd agree with that, first question I am asked, "You've lost considerable amount of weight, were you ill?"
