Review: Indian Biere House Bengaluru | The Connoisseur's Delight

Introduction

"Rain or shine, anytime is a fine time to dine" - and what a way to dine in a hitherto unexplored place - the Indian Biere House in Bengaluru.

How did I get to explore this place?

I'd wanted to offer a treat to some friends on many counts - moving to this new place, getting ourselves our third Suzuki Access, plus Almighty's blessings in giving me a second life. Although I've had informal meet ups in the Paakshalas and the Udupi Upahars, one of my friends put up a rather grand demand - that the treat must be at an unexplored place - the Indian Biere House at JP Nagar. I wasn't too sure if that was going to be too grand, but then, we don't indulge everyday. So I said, "If the celebration is to be stylish, so be it". Now that the place was fixed, it was the date and time that was TBD; and that happened almost impromptu.

Disclaimer: This is just a review of a great place to dine; I am in no way associated with this establishment except that I completed my first visit there as a happy diner.

Re: Review: Indian Biere House Bengaluru | The Connoisseur's Delight

Getting to Indian Biere House

This was a straightforward affair via G-Maps, but wait, as I was closing in, pat came many catches

1. G-Maps recommended a right turn off the 100feet Ring Road (Dr.Puneeth Rajkumar Road) at JP Nagar onto 18th Main or a right at 14th Main. Turn to 18th Main was blocked, and turn to 14th Main was disallowed, so I had to go and make a U-Turn below the Delmia Flyover and return to the place
2. The place showed ample car parking on photos on Google, while in reality, only two wheelers were allowed to park in front of the establishment

Valet parking service was available, but I preferred to drive to their official parking place, which is actually a wedding hall called Sri Sai Pushpanjali Nivasa. After parking the car there (I was the first in the day), I walked back to Indian Biere House and waited for the other folks to come. While inside, I was struck by the simple, yet old world charm that this place offered. To add, this was the first place of this class that was on fresh-air mode (read naturally air-conditioned).

Experiencing Indian Biere House

Likes

* designated smoking zones (top floor seating facing the main road) and non-smoking zones (the rest of the first floor and all of ground floor)
* Pleasing demeanour of all the hosts and hostesses
* excellent ambience
* easy to read menu (although not easy to pronounce the names of offerings)
* quick and professional service
* outstanding food quality

What could be improved

* one line of cars could be allowed to be parked in front of the establishment

The start of a super-fine dining experience

The teetotaler that I am, I ordered Asian Mary Buzzfree while the two friends settled for something more powerful. Samplers were also available for those who were keen on smaller helpings of malted beverage

Easy to read (but difficult to pronounce) items on the menu

Re: Review: Indian Biere House Bengaluru | The Connoisseur's Delight

Continuing the super-fine dining experience

We were astonished at the speed at which stuff was coming in - beverages in no more than five minutes and food in the quickest possible time. Since enough salad and beverages were consumed, we settled for just one main. While we were into our experience, we saw the place filling up, and filling up fast post 1:30pm. By the time we left the place at approx. 2pm, there were only single digit tables yet to be occupied. Such was the patronage for this place - by the young, old and families! Also, the place not being enclosed helped, as the noise was all dispersed, and one didn't have to shout above the din like in enclosed air-conditioned restaurants.

Re: Review: Indian Biere House Bengaluru | The Connoisseur's Delight

Signing off

After a delightful two hours spent, we signed off with dessert at the closeby Rameshwaram Cafe and went home, fully satisfied at the find. The "parking" aka wedding hall was full of cars when i reached there, and was able to clear mine out without fuss. Overall a five star experience and definitely worth repeat visits!

Outside IBH at the time of leaving - note the many two wheelers parked
Review: Indian Biere House Bengaluru | The Connoisseur's Delight-ibh_at230pm.jpg

The official car parking - ever seen a hall converted into a parking? It pays not to use the valet service, else how'd one get to see such sights

Re: Review: Indian Biere House Bengaluru | The Connoisseur's Delight

All good but had a terrible experience over there in a Friday evening visit in August.

They have a poorly lit staircase which are black, this caused my wife to fall down a flight of stairs. She sustained ligament damage in her ankle and knees as well as head injury. We had to be take her to hospital by ambulance since there were symptoms of concussion. It was a horrible experience on a Friday night due to piss poor design and wife took close to a month to recover. All doctors were unanimous that she was lucky to escape without a concussion or broken bones.

It's a pity we don't have accessible avenues which could have helped with getting suitable compensation for the health hazard at the location.

But yes their kebabs and pita is pretty solid.

Re: Review: Indian Biere House Bengaluru | The Connoisseur's Delight

This place has such an old-world charm to it. Something straight out of a Mediterranean location. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the food was amazing. Loved the fact that the place does not have air conditioning

We went on a Saturday afternoon around 12ish. The place was quite empty with a couple of families sitting on the ground floor. By the time we left, around 2:30, the place was completely full with folks waiting to get a seat in

Definitely a place to relax - Actually, i am reminded of Goa suddenly !!!

Nice review @vigsom. I hadn't seen / heard about this place. Even though I used to live a stone's throw away from this place. Will be definitely heading over there for sure in the near future. Think it looks perfect for my team's next party/meet; I'll definitely suggest this place. Thanks for sharing.

On a side note, if you haven't already been there, suggest heading to Khmer Kitchen which is just across the main road on the other side. Amazing South/East Asian cuisines.

Re: Review: Indian Biere House Bengaluru | The Connoisseur's Delight

Awesome review. I've been to this place, and recommend it for multiple visits. While it looks great in the evenings, the crowd is way too much. I'd suggest to go in the day time to avoid the crowd & the traffic. This is opposite Kesariya, a good restaurant for Rajasthani thalis. JP Nagar is now lined up with awesome places. Pump House is another one; Yuki is good too.

Thanks for the superb review @Vigsom. Appears to be quite decent in all respects, but for this above incident that's a cause for concern. Will have to add to the "places to go to" in Bangalore.

Sorry to read about your Mrs @Bhadralok. A truly horrible incident. Trust she is better now.

Reminiscing about such dimly lit restaurants, I had been to a Hyderabad restaurant in the Kachiguda area, where its dining hall was dimly lit. But the cashier who may have been its owner/partner was at the cash counter, where he had a very well lit table lamp to check the quality of currency he was receiving.

Thanks for sharing. Seems like the next place to visit when in Bengaluru. Lovely ambience. It would even be great with a light drizzle or in the evenings.

Good food pics. How was the taste and quality?

Re: Review: Indian Biere House Bengaluru | The Connoisseur's Delight

I stumbled upon this place recently for a meet up. They have good beer selections with amazing foods.
My personal favourites are their veg dimsum and Temple Tiger Craft Beer.
Best time to visit is at evening time preferably after sunset.
