Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

There is a reason no one likes Bangladesh team and their fans. They are certified cry babies. Played in umpteen World cups and still always lingering at the bottom. All their so called wins comes from their ridiculous pitches in Bangladesh. Moment they go out they are thrashed. They should learn from Afghanistan who without any good resources since few years are giving run for their money to top teams. And ya, Shakib stats may say he is a top all rounder but he will never gain the respect in World cricket which a Jadeja gets.

Anyways, Afghanistan is playing with lots of heart. Australia was arrogant in the way they started their batting thinking they can muscle through Afghan bowling. Would be massive win for Afghanistan and a real chance for semis if they can win today.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

Wow, nice going by Afghanistan! I would love to see a SF with India, South Africa, Australlia and Afghanistan qualifying. Newzeland haven't really been so good against strong teams, while Pakistan is also hasn't really been so good, whereas Afghanistan have been really putting their best effort despite being a newer team.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

Wow, brilliant bowling. So Afghanistan would have defeated all World cup holders except India if they do go on to win this match, which seems to be the likely outcome.

With South Africa they just need to bat first and put on 250 and boom they will beat them as well, rooting for them to make it to semi finals, they totally deserve it.

Rising from the Ashes, what a touching feat by Afghanistan, look at their body language, real fighters. AUZY 91/7 in 18 overs.

True. Even their unwarranted antics like nagin dance do not go well with the audience.

What a match man, what a match this is today. Just look at the way two sides are fighting each other. After that 91/7, AUS has come to 195/7 and still keeping up with the required run-rate.

40 mins back I was happy to think Afghanistan will win today. Now I am happy to see the AUS team still fighting and doing good.

Wish I was at Wankhede today

Wow, did we celebrate Afghanistan too early? Maxwell seems to be playing a blinder here. Excellent knock under so much pressure. Probably one of the best of this tournament so far.

If Maxwell pulls it off, it will be on par with Kapil's 175* in 1983 WC.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

After the drop, they could not even manufacture single wicket taking delivery? Especially last few overs, bowlers had that 'resigned' look in their faces and they just could not stop him hitting the boundaries at will. He could barely move and still hit out so many boundaries. This is unbelievable and I have never seen such an innings in my life.

Savage! Maxwell, a one man show. And a double hundred to go! Phew. What brutal hitting.

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

Man I was rooting for Afghanistan to win, but what an incredible incredible performance from Maxwell

He limped, hobbled and stumbled but managed to win the game single handedly for Australia and got to a double century that will be talked about in the same breath as Kapil Dev's 175 against Zimbabwe in 1983!

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

Oh boy! Was hoping Afg will win, after getting 7 quick wickets.
But they allowed a cripple to hit 4s & 6s at will

They didn't try too many yorkers or feed him some bouncers despite knowing he's injured.
May be they lost it due to their inexperience

Re: The 2023 Cricket World Cup

WHAT A MAAATCH!!!!
After a boring World Cup so far where teams have played miserable 2nd innings, this match was a nail-biter!
From 91-7 in the 19th over, this match wasn't Australia vs Afghanistan, this was Maxwell vs Afghanistan.
Keeping sane under the pressure yet maintaining a splendid Strike Rate is commendable. Later when he got cramps and fell down shaking in pain, it was a sad sight. Yet, he continued to finish what he started!!
I feel bad for the Afghanistan team. They have the, arguably, best spin attack in the tournament. Would have loved to see them in the semi-final and they have performed way way better than many teams in the tournament, they gave all they could but it wasn't their day, it was Maxwell's - that's the only explanation for their loss today.

Afghanistan's way ahead doesn't seem very bright. They have to defeat South Africa and both New Zealand and Pakistan have to lose their respective matches, both of which is very less probable.
