I think it's incoming for others as well. For ex: If I open Prime App (updated 2 months back) on my phone, it now asks to compulsorily select the profile of the user who's watching/using the service. You can add profiles as well for kids/adults.

I feel they would be tracking the usage and ultimately follow in Netflix's footsteps. Although it remains to be seen how Amazon handles it as Prime is a carrot to attract people to their Prime Subscriptions

Re: Netflix Password sharing comes to an end

The only reason I was password sharing with my friend was because Netflix don't provide 1080p quality on the 1 person plan.

I am the only person who watches Netflix content in my nuclear family. I use it whenever I want on the laptop, tv, phone without worry since the situation at my friend's place is probably the same.

Why do they want to be so restrictive? I only need the 1 connection so I can get my own "Standard" plan and end up paying Rs.50 less. My friend will probably do the same and Netflix will start earning Rs.100 per month less than it was till date. Its just lost revenue for now.

How is this helping Netflix? How is this helping us? I had no trouble paying 250/month but I want the content at least in 1080p. I have no use for the 2nd concurrent connection so I need to downgrade to 720p. I have not signed up again for my new standard account because I don't know if I want to downgrade. I probably will at some time in the future, maybe. But it is not definitely happening immediately.

I will probably use this opportunity to subscribe to AppleTV instead and catch up on the latest season of Ted Lasso.

Re: Netflix Password sharing comes to an end

I and couple of others use a shared NetFlix account with my friend who pays for it. In return, I pay for the Disney+ account that I share with the friend who pays for NetFlix

I can still access NetFlix without issues, so I guess the crackdown hasn't started yet here. The premium subscription costs €15.99/month and NetFlix provides the option of adding two extra members outside the household for €3.99 each. This could be an option going forward. Isn't there an option in India to add extra members?

Has anyone actually been restricted? I don't see any changes happening yet or how they are planning to do it.

Got it today.
Clicked on I am travelling.
Asked to send a text to confirm temporary access which we did.
Don't think this method will last long.

@sebring - how's kohraa?
We started first episode. Felt it's too slow so started watching something else.

I feel they may not have massive growth, but it won't be their death (at least not in near future)

I am on their side too, my gripe with Netflix is the cost of the Ultra HD/4K, compared to what the competition offers. Agreed they have better content, but over 7K a year for watching 4K content is steep. They need to revise their prices and more people like me will subscribe.

Re: Netflix Password sharing comes to an end

I support Netflix. However, what I don't agree with is that the 4k UHD is only provided on the highest 4 screens at a time plan for Rs699. We only watch on one device at a time. So why can't there be a single device, one location plan for say Rs 300? That way Netflix stops sharing and every user doesn't feel like the cost is too high. I am OK with them charging more for each subsequent user. We have a 85 inch Sony Mini LED and a 55 inch LG and both need 4k desperately!
