Post retirement, you will not want to settle in any of the towns/cities that you have mentioned. retired people love peace & what is it about education. what education do you need after retirement, it would be time for you to educate. The best place for someone like me to retire would be
1. Ooty (Or somewhere around with a neat transport)
2. Coorg (anywhere)
3. Kodaikanal
4. Suburbs of chennai (at least 100kms from chennai central).
can't think of leaving my homeland for long, i guess it is the same for everyone.
cheers

I'd envision a private recluse on the Andamans as the creme-de-la-creme. AWAY from the mainland is where the peace's at.

Theres a difference between choosing a city/town post retirement vs now ---
Im almost on the verge of getting a fine balance for my retirement ( wait , i still havnt started working yet ) .... 5 months of summers in Kotgarh ( HP ) -- 15 days in Delhi ( plenty of friends with bigger homes thatn they need ) - 5 winter months in Goa -- 15 days back in Delhi before getting back up into the hills .

The only thing left is a house in Goa that I can call my own -- if all goes well it should be done in a few months from now . Also I have to start working so that I can officially retire ... actually what the heck -- Ill just skip the work part ;-) !!

Don't ask me reasons ... coz there are plenty --- and I hope MNCs never crawl into any of these two places as long as I live !!!

Cheers

Well then, if that's the price I have to pay for sanity, in whose name do I draw out this cheque that I have ?!

If it's North India.
Then it HAS to be Chandigarh. No second choice.

I would have a long, sleek , sexy yatch as my personal transport. Maybe have a jet-ski too for those fun times. A parachute too. Camp fires every night, grilled fish and wine for dinner. Night times are actually quiet and in the mornings you could wake up to the gentle sound of waves lapping up the shore and the birds chirping up above in the tree you are sleeping under.

Umm - need to take off on a vacation now !

Goa it is for me. I am already saving up for my retirement home. Clean place. Good roads. Nice and helpful locals.

A few years ago.. people used to say the same stuff about Bangalore.. Look how Bangalore has turned out now !! I have no doubt Mysore will follow suit.. its just a matter of time.

I would settle for Manipal..it's got everything you ever want. Scenic beauty plus the party life! And it's an amazing place to be.. []

My vote goes to Vizag---it has hills, forests and a beach. It is well connected by rail, sea and air. There are plenty of places for a weekend getaway like Araku, Bhimili, Tyda, Annavaram, Gangavaram, etc.
The India head of Franklin Templeton got bowled by the place when she visited it last year, and called it the 'California of India'.
I lived there for 2 decades before relocating to Hyd 5 years back, and miss the place badly. I fondly recall that I could reach the Railway station located 30 kms away in 30 minutes! In Hyderbad, it would take 90 minutes at the minimum for traversing such a distance.

Just give me space!

I think most of India has something or the other to offer. All I need is loads of space. Things are far too crammed these days!
Retirement life for me is on 10 acres of land about 50 km from city! and I am still dreaming of it

People are unlikely to move to a new place after retirement.
So, most people will simply vote the region where from they belong to
