Re: Bengaluru Airport Terminal 2 | Initial Impressions

That's odd. This service is complimentary on my AMEX

Based on your feedback, I will re-check with AMEX

Is there a covered parking in KIA T2 for long term parking?

I am not sure if there is any long term parking in either terminal now, the regular parking is 600 for first day and additional days at 350 per day. But T2 parking is underground and I have parked for few days.

Has anything improved in the last two months? I need to pick up a family member early morning, tomorrow. Should I park and wait in the basement, or is there a way to park on the lobby level for a few minutes?

Alternate idea.

If you're the slightly early reaching type like me, consider stopping at the Shell pump's cafe near the Kempegowda statue. If the Shell Select lot is full, you could probably park at the dhaba adjacent that'd be empty in the wee hours.

You can get a beverage/snack while you wait (Shell always has Almond Magnums), and even get a nice little walk if that's your thing. They don't object unless you spend an unreasonable amount of time there without giving them any business . Cost you the same as terminal parking charges, pretty much.

Agree a pickup slot# when the arrivee is ready to get out the terminal, and pickup without either party having to play 'are they there yet?'.

He sounded apologetic that he had to ask someone rather than figuring it out on his own.

We have come a long way after that and our now swanky airports look second to none and it is a proud feeling to see a terminal like T2 which is so unique . Of course scope for continuous improvement will always be there.

Re: Bengaluru Airport Terminal 2 | Initial Impressions

I’m actually pleasantly surprised by the superb maintenance of even Bengaluru's Terminal-1! Its been what, 12-14 years since it opened? But the airport is still very new, being maintained very well, looks modern and contemporary! Terminal-2 is of course new, and its got a lot of novelty going on with the interior theme etc.

The thing is, somehow maintenance is not great even in new Indian airports. I have visited Hyderabad ( which more or less opened at the same time as Bengaluru’s Terminal-1) and i find the maintenance not at par with Bengaluru. Even T-3 Delhi is not as good as Bengaluru in my view. Kolkata is probably one of the worst modern Indian airports i have been to. I dont know how old the airport is, but it feels like its been terribly maintained.

Forget indian airports, both T-1 and T2 are much better than many of the international airports. Sure, Singapore airport with the “Jewel” attraction is probably better, but i have found quite a few international airports pretty basic, and cleanliness levels far below what you would expect from the so called developed country standards.

Re: Bengaluru Airport Terminal 2 | Initial Impressions

Mighty impressed with T2 parking arrangements. Integrated MLCP with the main terminal, good signage with lifts, escalators and stairs and very well lit.

Pricing wasn’t too bad either I felt. Only fly in the ointment was a few water leaks in one portion, although I did notice some maintenance work ongoing.

One quirk (unsure) is that the access to the surface level pickup area was through a solitary lift for those with trolleys and heavy luggage. A little queue was present even at 0100. However, I might be missing something here. Others can comment on this matter.

Re: Bengaluru Airport Terminal 2 | Initial Impressions

What are alternate (better) ways to get to T2 from the domestic T1 than the shuttle buses? Travelling from Kochi to Hong Kong and love CathayPacific, but the transfer between terminals at Indian airports have usually been a pain. Travelling as a family of three with a kid with a good amount of check-in baggage.

Shuttle Busses are the fastest and the best way. All other means are less efficient

You may already know this but Air India and Air India Express domestics also land at T2 so terminal change is not needed.
