Why ask rhetorical questions about what rhetorical questions mean?

And I discovered this sentence in a newspaper today: "The groom came to his marriage in a sleek Endeavour."
came to?
his marriage?
sleek Endeavour?

LOL, that's like the other Indian classic, "Which year did you pass out (from college)"?

My answer to that would be - "Every year - particularly on week-ends (in college)"!

Good point, Thad. In British English, 'route' is pronounced as 'rowt' only when the meaning is 'defeat'--eg: Alexander routed Porus.
But when you route an application via proper channel, the 'route' here is pronounced as 'root', though it is a verb like in the preceding example.

But the Yanks, as always, have taken a shortcut and pronounce both as 'rowt', even to the extent of nouns like 'bus route'.

With reference to the thread http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...your-nano.html, I have been wondering whether the word used should read PRIMP instead of PIMP.

PIMP is a slang, I find, and used as an adjective, meaning very good, excellent; COOL, AWESOME. Also pimping. Uses: That is a pimp car. That's a pimping car. (The Online Slang Dictionary | Definition of pimp). On the other hand, the meaning of the slang term PIMP as a verb (to question thouroughly, to discovering holes in one's knowledge), as has been used in the thread, does not fit in.

v.tr. To dress or groom (oneself) with meticulous or excessive attention to detail.

v.intr. To dress or groom oneself with elaborate care; preen.

is appropriately applicable to the title of the thread, as in "Primp your Nano".

Or, to apply both words in their right usage, one can rightly say "Primp your Nano to get a pimp car".

And since T-BHP does not condone slang, I vote that the particular thread referred to above have its title changed to "Primp your Nano".

I agree with Anup. You're taking things far too seriously. Even this thread is merely a guide for those who wish to follow it, it is merely recommended reading, not gospel.

As far as "pimp my ride" is concerned you should look for a thread I wrote long back here in shifting gears with that title.

We're not an English language forum, we're merely a forum that posts in English. Some level of "Americanism" (that word itself is slang) exists and cannot be avoided. I think Team-BHP's problems are more with internet slang, abusive slang and SMS language.
Everything else should be OK, I guess.

I'm no moderator so if I was me, I'd take me with a grain of salt in any case.
