This might work.
What if I use 'remains' instead of 'is'?

This product's appearance may change according to season, but it will always work the same.

This might not, as this is a disclaimer printed on medicine containers.

Works for me!

Ahh, ok, then the wording has to be tight and right.

Having read the article, "after" could have been used instead of "post" here.

Oh, could it? That "post" was used in the context of this thread. Perhaps I should have italicised it for easier comprehension!

Re: A YetiGuide® : How To Post In Proper English

Can overlook and oversee be used interchangeably?

In the below text, is the word overlooked used correctly or should/could it have been substituted by overseen?

I believe they can't be, since they're polar opposites, almost, kind of like hard working and hardly working.

Ps: checking the brand, however, it seems he will go on and overlook things in India.

Merriam-Webster has:

overlook (v.t.): oversee, superintend - "The chaperones will overlook the students' behavior on the field trip."

My son's Concise Oxford also has:

overlook (v): supervise

(along with other meanings of the word).

No. But, sadly, they often are. One of many degradations of language.

No, I gave an American and a British dictionary entries. In fact the overlooker = supervisor usage is Britain-specific apparently?

There is also this article:

So, this No seems wrong.

OK, OK, I took The Big Book down from the shelf (The Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, in two volumes.) It's a 1964 edition, so I consult it in the what words used to mean sense. It agrees that definitions of overlook include supervision.

I'll check out Fowler's English Usage.

By the way, my late cousin's luxury hotel* had this as a slogan: We overlook nothing but the lake. . A nice pun on two of the meanings. My cousin was more than ten years older than me, and much, much posher and better-educated.

In the same group of words is oversight. I would define that as omission, etc, but it is also used for supervision.

*Sadly, the family sold it after his death and I can't afford the experience as a paying customer!

Simple typos can be pretty funny. Here's one on major Chinese automaker Foton's global site:

EDIT: I then found another humorous typo for ‘fossil’ on the same site:

In a photo taken at Hunstanton Beach, UK (any memories?), I couldn't overlook the fact that the native users of English too are troubled by a punctuation - or the lack of it!

In the UK the unit of length should be metre and not meter, right?

That, and the random (non) use of capital letters.

But just as there are hordes of local lingo hoardings with horrible and at times silly spellings in our own neighborhoods, it is but natural that there be a few similar ones in the English land too!
