Dear sirs,

How can anyone forget the glorious 90 seconds of pure guitar bliss in "Phantom Of The Opera" by Iron Maiden! -

Bonus - It inspired the Swat Kats theme song !!

Oh man do I love this thread!

I've always been partial to the guitar work on Powerslave by Iron Maiden. 2:55 is where it's at:
https://youtu.be/Mw-o_cSdqmI

And the buildup to 7:05 on Seventh Son of a Seventh Son:
https://youtu.be/ZjphaXXEU9o

And and and, Don't Talk to Strangers by Dio, 2:20:
https://youtu.be/oksW2ND4W2Y

Just let me say very little and post two videos instead:

https://youtu.be/KwPlYiyvBy8

I have taken a very strong liking to Obscura. Their solos and riffs are unplayable for me and a work of art

Also, here's some power metal solos as well:

https://youtu.be/ERFXA676WLs

Those who are familiar with Dragonforce/don't like them, can skip the first two minutes.

And last but not the least, here's my solo from 8:14 to 9:47:

Hi,
After copying the YouTube link, if you add say "&t=1m20s" or "&t=80s", the YouTube link will open from 1 minute 20 seconds.

My pick though is a rather unconventional one, probably a sacrilegious artist for fans of true rock.

Smoke & Mirrors by Imagine Dragons, this guitar solo just soothes me and greatly complements the song.
(3m34s until the end)

As a guitarist myself, this is an amazing thread to start. So, thank you for that

Some of my all-time favourite solos are Sweet Child O' Mine, Night Train, Rocket Queen, November Rain, Hotel California, Sultans of Swing, Free Bird, The Unforgiven, Fade to Black, The Trooper, Dance of Death, Cemetery Gates, Cowboys from hell, Give in to me, Beat It, Eruption.

Dominate your senses. Do not use sissy speakers.

Enjoy, solo 1 -3:14
Worlds greatest breakdown -3:48
Solo 2 - 4:15

Here are some of my favorites, in no particular order.

1- Song: Bohemian Rhapsody
Band: Queen
Guitarist: Brian May
https://youtu.be/nkrccPYB-kM

2- Song: Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Band: Queen
Guitarist: Brian May
https://youtu.be/zO6D_BAuYCI?t=84

3- Song: Through The Fire and Flames
Band: Dragonforce
Guitarists: Herman Li, Sam Totman
I can't choose a single solo from this song, so here's the full instrumental.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zk6KVR08KmY

4- Song: Californication
Band: Red Hot Chili Peppers
Guitarist: John Frusciante
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeZ61yCbynE

And as a bassist, here's one of my favorite bass solos:

5-Song: Dean Town
Bassist: Joe Dart
Band: Vulfpeck
Cover Artist: Juliaplaysgroove
The entire song is like a bass solo, so here's the entire song!
Listen through headphones/speakers with good clarity and powerful bass.

Apart from several Mark Knopfler solos, I love these 3 solos;

1. Ghost of Tom Joad: Bruce is joined by Tom Morello and incidentally Bruce had no idea that Tom would do this extended solo. The pros that E-Street Band is the guys did not miss a beat.

2. Prove it all Night:Springsteen will not feature as anyone's list as amongst the greatest guitariists but the man knows how to construct a tune and the passion he brings on is second to none.

3. Steve Vai

1. https://youtu.be/B-c6GphpAeY

2.https://youtu.be/Dfi2z-81fTQ

3. https://youtu.be/68AoHJd84aQ

Been a metal head for close to two and a half decades. The list is pretty long. But the one song which is still touted as almost unplayable is this.

Fun starts at 3:20

https://youtu.be/0jgrCKhxE1s

Started with Dreamtheater, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth. Keep bouncing back between bands but the latest on my playlist is Polyphia. If they can have Steve Vai to perform as a guest artist, it means something.
He comes in at 3:15.

https://youtu.be/1JNmz17gnMw

Another one by Polyphia. Jason comes in at 2:40.
My wife keeps saying the beginning of the song would make for a great ringtone, :D but I haven’t seen it in under ringtones in iTunes.

https://youtu.be/kd6hTuN0bLg

Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci..to name a few which are regulars in my playlist. After much deliberation I gave Slipknot another chance and buoy, they are good too.

The incomparable and unmatchable Frank Zappa

https://youtu.be/nojSrotOZZM

Here the solo commenced at 2:00 but terrific Mallet playing until then

https://youtu.be/d4uW5ujGUyk

Great to see the usual numbers here. But this thread will be incomplete without these.
Pantera - Floods solo and probably the most haunting outro ever.
https://youtu.be/KPOSEf-5W-w

Pantera - Cemetery gates solo starts at 3.30
https://youtu.be/RVMvART9kb8

Must mention Dream Theater and how great they are live, too many songs to add here.

Awesome thread :Cheering:

Since this thread is in the spirit of, music, I thought I'd pitch my songs to this forum

I have released 6 songs, in the past 12 months, in the progressive/technical metal genre [Instrumentals]

I play the guitar [8 string], while the bass and drums are programmed

I also release 2 guitar play-through videos every week.
My music is there on all major streaming platforms , and YouTube.

That is some tasty stuff. I see that you're a Morbid Angel fan.

Subbed! :Cheering:

A truly honorable thread indeed.

Guitar Solos have a special place in my heart, and most of my favorite ones have been mentioned in this thread by people of great taste.

I take this opportunity to introduce to Eric Clapton. One of his truly amazing performances...
