Re: Constructing a new farmhouse | Complete greenfield project

Thank you. The landscaping is work in progress. Have planted 25 mango trees and some Cahew. Don't have the pics.

The lawn is complete along with flowering plants at the periphery.

The lawn is a lot greener now and the plants have started flowering.

Some pics along with the new truck.

Latest Update

Updating after a long time.

The farm house is holding up really well. No leakages no seepages or moisture on the walls.

In past few months have added a few things to make the stay more comfortable. Have also done a few more plantations. I further added a container kitchen with sit out for having tea/coffee out in the open (still WIP).

The rains here are unrelenting and the sun hardly comes out.

A small brick wall to divert mud and water flow.

Added the shade over the sitting and sunbeds (Not really useful in this season)

Beautiful farm its coming up really well. I've been a big fan of your posts, its amazing how you built this up bit by bit. And the Hilux (and the VCross prior) look wonderful in their natural terrain. Max is adorable and I'm so happy that he's got a good home with your family

Beautiful farm with beautiful views !

Your passion in building is clearly reflected in your writing. You have taken so many of us on this beautiful journey along with you. Thank you for that. Will keenly follow all future progress.

Just one question though. Is security an issue since it's located in a secluded area ?

I also aspire to build a vacation home somenday. Scouting for locations around Mumbai close to a water body. Hopefully soon !

Hey Mate - Very interesting to see you have used GFRG and I’ve been thinking about it as well. How has it been holding up so far? Anything that you have learnt and would do differently?

GFRG seems like a really good material but has not found favour yet in India.

Re: Constructing a new farmhouse | Complete greenfield project

The house looks beautiful.!!

Congratulations!!

I do have a question, however, to all BHPians who have posted on this thread about their own properties, and do have farmhouses. I apologise for being naive.

I understand you do have a staff house and assume that this means there is an all round presence of humans on your property, but how exactly do you safeguard the inside of the house, it's immediate surroundinngs, pool etc. from animals (Especially reptiles, and by that, I mean, snakes and lizards)

This has always been a question for me when I see hotels and vacation stays in remote areas, especially those built by people dwelling elsewhere and using it solely for vacation.

They are supposed to be able to slither into the most tightest spots and make themselves announced at the most uncomfortable of times.

A great fear of mine is to go home to see a snake popping it's head out of the WC (Snakes on a plane, anyone?) and claiming it as it's home. (I know it sounds laughable, but hey, I am allowed to think of situations and get scared by them)

Once again, wonderful house and my heartiest Congratulations...!!

Thanks for sharing! An absolute dream for many.

Please take it as a complement on your excelence of execution of what is only a dream for many. If I ever get into such a project, I will try to keep a detail log book of every penny spent. In my opinion sharing a detail on economics would make it a lot more fun for ordinary folks like us who would otherwise keep wondering what was the cost involved for such a fantastic execution.

I am sure such well executed projects are not every day find, and hence the data wont be very easily available.

Let this be known that one person on this forum is not laughing. My house is next to what used to be an agricultural farm earlier. I've seen Cobras slithering there from my room window. Past month, thrice did baby Cobras visited us. First time there were three in the bathroom. Second time, two were spotted in bowl of Indian seat. Third time a single one was spotted at same place. Not scaring you but snakes on a plane is real.
We just flushed them away. However, unless we know how they gained access that way, theres nothing much we can do to stop them. By the way, this is in the middle of Indore and never did we have this issue in past twenty years.
