Mr McMahon (Netflix)

As a WWF fan, this series is proving to be pretty good. Lot of inside stories and shows just how far that industry has come to.

3 episodes in and it's been a good watch.

Watching stars of childhood TV like Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker etc talk about stuff was pretty good.

*Shogun* - 4.5/5
Streaming on Disney+ HotStar

A Good Historical Drama Series - Good visuals, Story flow, Plot twists, Sound effects, Acting.

This is a Japanese language (Audio) TV show and i did liked it by understanding with Subtitles, Facial expressions, body language, Tones and undertones. It was interesting to hear the Japanese language dialogues just to know the tones and compliment the effect created along with the Background music.

The show is regarding fight between Fedual Lords of Japan around 1600AD to become the most powerful Military and Political leader called 'Shogun'.

Well deserved Emmy wins by this Series (though i do not have any idea regarding the other contenders).

A Gentleman in Moscow

What an absolutely beautiful series!!
It's based on a Novel by the same name, which is probably loosely based on an actual person. It tells the journey of a 'Count' is placed under house-arrest in a hotel for the rest of his life after the Russian revolution.

What makes this show special is the amazing performances, beautiful art direction/costumes, music transports you into that era and makes you feel for the characters. The show left me emotional, which does not happen often.

Must watch - 9/10
Surprisingly, it's IMDB rating is 7.4 which is pretty low, not sure why.
RottenTomatoes rating though is very good at 92% fresh.

Travels with my Father

This is hilarious, a bit Borat like but more refined. Jack Whitehall who is a bohemian modern day stand up comedian, takes his father on some travel experiences. Note that his father Michael is a very stiff stuffy uppity Britisher, 45 years older than him, always wears a suit almost pre-independence generation but he has a good heart.

Quite hilarious but they do express their affection for each other which is touching

Nobody Wants This, on Netflix

A typical comedy that makes for a nice watch to relax / unwind and pass time.

Manvt Murders (Marathi)
Sony Liv
Rating 3.5/5

Based on a true incident this series uncovers gruesome murders which took place for crazy reasons in a small villege in Maharashtra.
It's not fast paced or very suspenseful but maintains a steady pace. Doesn't become boring at any point. It's a slow burner.
Well directed, all characters do justice to the character. Especially Sonali Kulkarni, Sai Tamhankar are brilliant in her role.
I am not convinced on Ashutosh Gowariker playing the lead role. 1970s period is well depicted.
When the reasons of murders are revealed, it makes you dumbstruck.

OTT : Amazon & MGM +

4.5/5

I stumbled upon this horror-cum-sci-fi-cum-drama series on Amazon Prime and after just watching 1 Episode, I become obsessed with it and in a rare phenomena, I binged watched all episodes of its 2 Seasons in a matter of 2-weeks.

Season 3 released last week and it is airing only on MGM+ so I subscribed to it which is again I rarely do for one series or movie.

Storyline :

People on a roadtrip come into a town and get stuck and can never leave that town as there is no way out. Mysteriously people who are stuck in this town for years went on a road trip from multiple places across America and stuck in the same town. They are safe outside only during daylight. As the night falls, some nocturnal creatures in the form of normal human beings come out and kill the folks living in town.

The story is about how to survive each night and ind a way out of that nightmarish town.

It's pretty engrossing for most of the time with some parts due to certain characters is dull and boring (which I kept forwarding) but, overall mystery, thriller and horror fans, this is an amazing series and must watch.

Obliterated (Netflix)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11097240/

"An elite special forces team tracking a deadly terrorist network, hell bent on blowing up Las Vegas."

This was a pretty fun watch. Does not take itself seriously and just goes off

Pretty NSFW as the ratings mention.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

The Perfect Couple on Netflix.

To put it mildly, was definitely expecting something more, considering the hype that was created around this show. Ended up being a damp squib. The storyline is basically, "old wine in a new bottle." What was supposed to be a captivating blend of mystery and intrigue, ended up falling flat. The actors themselves have done a good job though.

P.s. Eve Hewson (who plays Amelia), is in a totally different role after playing a spooky character in Behind Her Eyes.

Rating: 2.5/5

Murder in Mahim on JioCinema.

Vijay Raaz and Ashutosh Rana have done a marvellous job in this gripping drama which delves into a fairly new concept for Indian shows per se: the LGBTQ movement. The makers have done a good job in not being too preachy, thus giving the show an understated emotional angle which isn't overpowering. The show does seem to falter a little in the middle episodes, but picks up eventually to culminate well.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

The hottest series out there for two seasons in a row has got to be Monster, both the The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story. The Jeffrey Dahmer Story is like the most realistic portrayal I have witnessed yet on TV. It don't get any better than this.

Twilight of the Gods (Animated, Netflix)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10625492/

"Series inspired by Norse Mythology. The Twilight of the Gods refers events that led to the destruction of Midgard and Asgard, then the death of most of the Ęsir and Vanir gods in an ultimate battle against evil, the forces of nature and the Giants"

Being a fan of Norse mythology, I started watching this and I mut say, it was pretty good. Violence and X rated, this was a verry interesting piece of Norse storytelling.

Thor being a bloodlust driven hothead was crafted well.

The way it ended though, I guess they must be hoping to get green light for second season.

3.75/5

(Not for kids)

Fargo Season 5 is a 5/5. Brilliantly made and quite entertaining. Much better than Season 4. Reminded me of the movie. A must watch.

Streaming on Prime.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Watched the Menendez brothers series. Its based on true story with actors performing. After watching this watched the documentary which had the real events. Both are interesting.

Surprisingly, 2 days ago while I was watching CNN there was a story about this where they have now found a letter written to aunt in which they mentioned the abuse they were undergoing from their father. The Judge now has to decide if that can be considered as evidence. Basically they couldn't prove that they were abused which they wanted to use in their defense for their murdering of their parents !

Lincoln Lawyer - Season 3 dropped in Netflix with the complete season last week. On the penultimate episode and as of now, looks solid. This time around, David E Kelly, does not have any qualms of killing people

I chanced upon BBC player on Prime, subscribed immediately for 599 a year. They have an incredible selection, but best of all start off with Coupling.
