The Whirlwind - Netflix

This Korean drama is an interesting take on political / corporate nexus. Sometimes it can become a drag but overall a bold and interesting series.

Rating: 3.5/5

Midnight Club:

1st episode did not put us to sleep so that's a good thing Plan to watch the rest of the episodes. A bit teenagerish but let's see how it goes.
Midnight Club is also turning out to be a snoozefest. Any good supernatural occult horror series to be recommended?

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Finished watching Tour de France: Unchained Season 2 on Netflix.

What an amazing show, still feeling the goosebumps.
I am a sports lover but was never into cycling as a sport but this series has got me hooked.

The 1st season was epic, and the 2nd is equally good.
I would rate both - 10/10.

This would definitely be in my list of top sports documentaries ever made.
If you love sports, don't miss it.

Also, watched 'Sprint' on Netflix, which is another series about the fastest runners in the world. It is a great build up for the Olympics, but not as good as Tour De France.
I would rate it - 7.5/10, nice watch overall.

I am actually thrilled that Netflix is getting big time into sports based docu-series.
I think they tasted huge success with Foruma1: drive to survive,
and then venturing into other sports.

The one of Tennis was pretty lame though, lets see what else is in store.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

After Mirzapur Season 3, another one bites the dust.

Kota factory season 3 is extremely bad - it's clear that the makers have run out of ideas, same repetitive seasons, boring, preachy and just a poorly made series.

Please avoid and save your time.

I don't know what's up with the makers of such successful shows, may be they are just releasing these seasons to cash in on the success of the previous seasons but without the hard work. Never expected such poor quality from TVF!!

Shall give "From" a go Giving Mike Flanagan stuff a break for now. Extremely high rated but not for my liking...

Absolutely and Gary Oldman is 10/10! His nonchalant attitude, masterful acting and dialogue delivery alone make this series extremely watchable.

Finished watching Season 1, just starting Season 2.

Showing on Apple TV+

Cheers

Haha, yes not one of Flanagan’s best. And then I saw ‘The Fall of The House of Usher’ and this one seemed better

You can try :

‘The Outsider’, supremely spooky and strange concept.

‘Red Rose’ is quite good, ending is not to my taste though.

‘From’ I’ve already recommended in the movie thread as a supremely better and scarier alternative to ‘The Watchers’

‘Kingdom’ is a brilliant Korean period zombie show, season 1 is too good!

‘Evil’ is a different kind of horror series. More black humour / investigative but worth giving a chance.

‘All of us are dead’ - Korean survival zombie horror set in an high school. Episodes are 1 hr long but you don’t feel it. Highly highly recommended.

‘Hellbound’ another Korean horror series, very strange and brilliant concept and the finale is to die for.

In case you have the stomach for that much dark damp melancholy the way only Germans can do it, try ‘Hausen’. I couldn’t go beyond 2 eps, too literally heavy and oppressive !

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Any House of the Dragon fans here?

Season 2 just ended and after 8 episodes in this season, it turned out be extremely under-whelming. The way Game of thrones was progressing, this series is not at all comparable. All the characters are still there where they were in the last season. Some progress / storyline has moved but largely the whole point of conflict between the 2 families remains as where it was. All drama around some dragon sequences was hyped but nothing major (barring one battle).

One reason which is popular on reddit and other forums is the lack of budget. May be this series is not performing as per their original estimates. HBO intends to make 2 more seasons. With again a looming 2 year gap for the next season, I feel a lot of viewers will turn away and wait for all 4 seasons (perhaps 2028).

When compared to season 1; season 2 is no more than 7 out of 10.

Thanks

As you like sports docuseries, I am sure you would have already watched the one I am suggesting. In case if you haven’t then watch The Last Dance. It’s a must watch for Jordan & Basketball fans. It’s on Netflix.

Yes, absolutely. Twice
It is on the top of my list 10/10 and definitely among the best sports docu-series ever made.
