Off topic - A big fan for Anurag Kashyap stuff, could catch up on Mukkebaz finally and loved it. And Jhund too over this weekend, what a movie!

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

I pretty much binged Big Little Lies over the weekend and I am shocked, how can I miss such a good show with such brilliant actors in it. I kept seeing the show in recommendations on Hotstar. But, what a brilliant series with mind blowing screenplay and direction. Currently on season 2 episode 3. It won’t be much time before I complete season 2 as well

A big 5/5 from me for this wonderful show.

The series builds upon the stupendous first season and comes with a new storyline with an equally brilliant result. The crux of the series is the superlative cast and crew and which carries the narrative wonderfully well. The idea taken from real life incidents happening around Delhi, Delhi Crime is a must watch. This series is one of the better crime series to come out of India and I hope this continues.

Rating: 4.5/5
+1

Finished DC Season 2 in about 3 days which is a record as I like to phase out and relish good content rather than binge watch it.

Cast,Storyline and Direction was fabulous. There is a feel of Delhi in every frame (since I am partly from there) and can relate to every lane and homes shown in the series.

Shefali's acting and presence is outstanding and they should start making future seasons at a faster pace instead of making it once in 2 years.

Our entire family is a fan and addicted to Crime Patrol and have been watching it since its inception and its one of the few tv shows that is on par with big screen (But, off late the CP 2.0 has lost it's charm and intensity due to change in story telling pattern).

Delhi Crimes S2 gets a solid 4.5/5 from me.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Delhi Crime Season 2 on Netflix. Would rate it a decent 3 on 5. I have not actually watched season 1, but season 2 is crisp and short, just around 5 episodes. This is supposedly based on some real life incident, so the narrative is real and believable. But then its also very predictable. Another issue I had was the slightly “elitist” lead character, and almost all the higher-ups to this lead actress also seem too classy to be real. While the rest of the cast was quite rooted. This took away a bit of authenticity in the characters. But its a good watch anyway.

Anyone watching KLEO? Set in the late 80s/early 90s when the Berlin Wall came down, the German language series is a quirky but entertaining look at life through the eyes of a Stasi assassin betrayed by her own government (that’s not a spoiler).

Nice performances and some unexpected humour in this action/drama series. The 80s vibe is nicely captured through good use of Euro techno music (having spent my early teens exposed to it, I find it very relatable). Worth a watch!

Watching Maharani season 2 on Sony Liv. I liked season 1 and felt season 2 was better( couple of episodes to go). As in season 1 , some real life incidents that happened in Bihar in the late 90ies with a lot of creative liberties.

What holds it together even when it drags a bit are the performances. Very well acted by all the leads and even the smaller characters.

Just finished it yesterday night. I really liked it especially the performance of Jella Haase . Its worth watching just for her... Dimitrij Schaad character was initially irritating but you slowly fell in love with his character too.

I noted this a few days back and was looking for a little nudge to start watching. Thanks for your review, will add this to my watchlist.

House of the Dragons - Only for GOT fans, I had my doubts regarding this spin off, but after seeing the first two episodes I can say that it has lived up to the expectation. It has strong characters, good actors and dragons. Story is building up and expecting it to get more and more dramatic with each episode. I hope it will not end with disappointment like GOT.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Delhi Crime (S2) - Borefest. What a waste of time. Too many unwanted parallel tracks [DGP-Daughter, Inspector-Husband, Another Inspector-Daughter] which adds no value to the story. Just because you tag it as "inspired by true events" doesn't mean you can ride at a snail pace and take your viewers for granted.

It started off really well but then its only downhill. Started laughing when DGP gets into action running around on the streets in the final episode. Dropped the idea of watching Season 1.

Rating - 1/5. 1 for the first episode for setting the momentum.

+1 thanks for the post, started watching it after your recommendation. Big Little Lies, streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. 5 star rating.

Absolutely brilliant series. Just finished watching Season 1. Starting Season 2 today which also has another extreme powerhouse, Meryl Streep. What a star cast, Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz. Brilliant portrayal by Alexander Skarsgard as well. This show swept the Emmys in 2017, it got 16 nominations and won 8 of them.

Best or worst part depending on how you look at it, it’s based on a true story, the character of Alexander Skarsgard is based on a real person. Adapted from the novel by Liane Moriarty about mothers in Monterey Bay. Don’t miss it if you like deception, a crazy mix of characters and acting par excellence. Quite unlike anything in recent times.

Hope there is a Season 3, would love to watch it.

Cheers

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Binge watched The Boys S3 yesterday. And wow, they keep pushing the limits further and further.

3.5/5 for me.

Catching up on Stranger Things s4 now and it's been a good start.

Have to watch Sandman next, Rings of power and House of dragons.

So many series to watch, so little time

The first season is actually a lot better than the second. Should not be missed.
I agree about the unwanted parallel tracks that makes no sense whatsoever and were quite shallow.
However the acting by all the actors is top class. Fabulous casting.

For those who are looking to watch some good series, Try Primal (Both Season1 and 2 are out)

Its an animation TV series, so you can comfortably watch with your family & Kids. Language wont be a barrier because, its has no dialogues.

The story is about a Dino & a cave man trying to survive in a hostile environment. Very good Show.

While Primal is a fantastic series, I would not at all suggest it for kids. It is rated A for a specific reason. It has extremely gory and violent scenes and the entire premise is very mature for kids to understand.

Also, I saw it on VPN as it wasn't available in India at that time. Can you please tell us where you were able to watch it?
