Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

I started watching Scrubs (again) and Blackish. I am a sucker for comedies and while Scrubs tapers off in the later seasons, Blackish for now is keeping me hooked still.

I watched this for first few seasons but felt it to be dragging later and stopped watching it.

I started watching Covert Affairs on Prime but gave up after 6 odd episodes. Boring.

I finished watching You on Netflix. An excellent crime/drama series. I would rate it 4/5

Currently watching Mr. Iglesias on Netflix. It is a decent comedy series (it is impossible not to like Fluffy) and I would rate it 3/5

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

After the plethora of legal, spy, thriller, sci fi, horror serials on OTT, i decided to watch something quite parochial.
I had a collection of Jeevs & Wooster and i watched that and ran out of seasons and episodes and then searched for something Brit, something funny and something subtle. Chanced upon a serial called Doc Martin

A doctor who moves to a small time village in Britain and who does not have the best of communication skills. One would think that its about a doctor and so medicine, surgery are given. Thankfully it is limited and it is all about how the doc tries to fit in to the village and how the people settle in with a city doc. Watched about 9 episodes of Season 1. Was great going with subtle humor which trips you out completely. Alas, Amazon Prime removed it quite suddenly

Anyone knows about any other platform where one can watch this ?

I agree. Seems amateurish compared to the many outstanding ones recommended here.

I always have trouble with Prime and Netflix trying to authenticate my downloads when I have a bad connection, it's frustrating to suddenly find all your downloads with an exclamation mark just when you are ready to watch something. So I download everything the old fashioned way. Including Doc Martin.

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

Just finished binging Behind Her Eyes on Netflix. What a brilliantly made series! It's one show where I feel that IMDB rating is way too under-rated. Definitely a 8.5 for me.

It's 5 AM and I still couldn't stop thinking about it and connecting the dots.

That must be interesting, can you briefly mention what the series is all about and its genre.

The genre is psychological thriller/mystery and is based on a novel by the same name that came in 2017.

I love movies/shows that give you a feeling of realisation after you watch and makes you think about the story and the characters. And the fact that one can discuss the finer details with others that were presented before us throughout it, definitely makes my time worthwhile.

It gets better in later seasons. Piper Parabo was irritating in the first few episodes. Then she lost the silly grin.

Totally agree. I loved it. Each episode could maybe have been 5-8 mins shorter, but overall fantastic.

Wow, what a coincidence! I was browsing through an old backup HDD when I came across the Jeeves & Wooster seasons (of Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry) which I dutifully copied on to the laptop and started watching from episode 1. Will go through the 4 seasons and the Wodehouse Playhouse after the J&W. It's hard to translate The Master onto the screen but, in my opinion, Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry gave the best possible try.

I am looking for the Agatha Christie's Poirot where the titular character was played by David Suchet. Another classic series where the actor more or less defined the face of the character. It's not there on Netflix or Amazon Prime.

Got the entire collection on my HDD. Also I remember seeing this in DD long ago. Suchet has got under the skin of Poirot

If you like that you can continue with Ms Marple. Played by Joan Hickson (she is the lady Suchet for Agatha) this is slightly slower just like the books. Typical British village charm combined with subtle humour you should not miss this

Re: The TV / Streaming shows thread (no spoilers please)

The recent 2 series I watched on Netflix which I can recommend is Behind her eyes and Bombay Begums.

Behind her eyes is a brilliant psychological thriller very interesting.

Bombay Begums can be termed similar to Four more shots please.

IMDb has the lowest rating for this show as there is a negative trend on twitter to give it low ratings as it stars Pooja Bhatt daughter of Mahesh Bhatt. The SSR case and nepotism crusaders on twitter keep pulling down any movie/series which stars nepo kids i.e. Bombay Begums. At 6 episodes it is a breezy watch though its strictly 18+.

I would like to know on which platform can I watch the Oprah interview of Meghan Markle in India?
