This guy is first in line at the NYC store, waiting 5 days early for the iPhone. Nuts.
First in Line for iPhone
He put his cell number up and apparently has been responding to texts and phone calls from everyone. Heres the number for the lazy:
Mobile phone: 631.291.2603
this guy is #3 in line
The iPhone Adventure
Sheer Madness! This is the heights of geekdom & gadget loving!
Some people just does not value their time.
Why does it sounds like Apple-generated publicity to me?

IMO apple does not need any publicity with the iPhone there are several geeks / die hard fans out there which will do anything ... imagine waiting in line for 3-4 days for limited edition sneakers ?
A lot of stuff like this happens in the US. There was a similar line outside theaters to buy star wars tickets some years ago, with people pitching tents and sleeping on the pavement for days.

Unemployed = Loads of Time for such stuff ?
You missed the point !;)
well an umemployed guy who can afford a $599 mobile which is expensive even by US standards !!!
Apple does not need publicity, infact they spend very less on ads. Word of mouth is what it is. Remember Apple launched the iPhone when there was the Consumer Electronics show going on in Las Vegas. No prizes for guessing where the crowd and media attention was !!!
That guy will sell that phone with lots of premium on ebay :)
He doesnt know the Indian way of doing things.. either hire somebody else to stand in the queue.. or pretend as if the queue does not exist and head straight for the entrance.

And if someone stops him, say "Sorry !!", and butt in behind the person who stopped him. :)
Whew, the kind of hype apple creates is unbeilavable. No wonder their products are sold like hot cakes. I reckon the credit goes more to brand marketing rather than actual product itself.;)

Nope.. their products are really good. Unfortunately they goofed up major when apple decided to go alone with their OS/HW licensing and not follow the Microsoft model.
They are really good at innovation. iMac, iTunes, iPod, iPhone, iBook, PowerPC.. list goes on... The saying was "Apple 85 is Windows 95"
